(Jim) Koalas have to be the All-Mammals Champion in the Super-Moronweight Division. They are extraordinarily cute and cuddly and utterly passive. Case in point was our delightful koala, whose name was Jack. Amy asked Ms. Zookeeper, "Are koalas smart?" "Not very. This guy is six years old. His name is Jack. He doesn't know his name is Jack." Queensland is the only Australian province that allows you to actually hug a koala. In other places, you can pet them but not hold them. I'm not sure if g...
Cairns, Australia oneyearaway
... black and white with a lounger and cubes on the verandah overlooking a tropical swimming pool and spa tub - smashing. Excellent fans and a c - opposite the safest part of the beach and right in amongst all the action - shops, bars restaurants etc. Just what we needed after all that peace and quiet! Lovely promenade to walk after a pleasant dinner - deciding what to do tomorrow(?)
Palm Cove, Queensland, Australia gandsinoz... her blanked - wot genius we are! The couple adjacent to use were rather impressed and said they had never seen anything like that before!! The toilets and showers on the site were spotless and apart from there being no hot water it was near to perfect as you could get. The air was clean and it was very peaceful, After 12 hours sleep we were on the road again, we went to Josephine falls (where you could swim ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia maxandtrudy... circuit, where each waterfall seemed bigger than the last. (Photos to follow...) This section was unfortunately accompanied by the rain, which I again succeeded in bringing with me all the way to Cairns.
Finally, I drove to Etty Bay, where I had been told by the tourist info office, there was a family of cassowaries. I didn't see them today, but still had a ...

Cairns, Queensland, Australia frechdaxxx... a huge ugly fish that had to be 5 or 6 ft long, I later found out was a giant groper. Anyways, I was looking down a little cautiously not knowing if I was in any danger and it quickly jumped and grabbed a nearby fish at the same time that a guide snook up on me to tell me lunch was getting started. So that gave me a good startle and I later found out that the groper can be very dangerous if it feels threatened. I finish on another post as this is getting a little long.
Cairns, Australia bpippert... heure de décalage ) mais j'ai complètement oublié celle de mon réveil qui a donc sonné à 5H30 au lieu de 6H30 ! Cairns, Australia mikelaIn retrospect, it should have occurred to me that a trip including the Great Barrier Reef would at some point require a person to be submerged. Despite the best efforts of the giant catamaran crew to encourage me to snorkel or scuba dive and their insistance that it would not take long to teach me to do either, I had to ask if it left them time enough to teach me to swim. Well, let's just chalk this day up for ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia arneson... still overcast. Daniel was biting at the bit to go fishing again off the jetty so after breakfast Stephen, Daniel and Ryan headed off. I was talking to a couple from north England who had just travelled around Australia and were heading home in a few weeks. After paying for another nights camping fees I joined the fisherman on the pier. Just after I arrived they got a 'big' fish on and I ...
Palm Cove, Australia georgeescape... although we cut the train connection a little fine. As for the train journey, it was even more boring than last time, mainly because I had not reading material and partly because there was nothing decent on TV. It eventually ended and with it, the 4 hours pestering I had to endure with Ryan sat next to me. After a quick shuffle round of all the ***** that Dad and Jo have brought totalling almost 55kg we got the 'express' train to the airport ...
