... of 60 pence and there was SO much food. We made chapatis from scratch, a tomato and cabbage stew, salad and homemade vegetable samosas. The beauty of the food was its simplicity and I swear that made it taste even better. Madam Dorothy also brought along her 4 year old daughter 'Joy' who was an absolute cutie pie - she was very shy but had big afro bunches on top of her head!

... we decided to head to the beach. We all got on 'bodabodas' which were essentially motorcycles and are the main way people get around in town. I compared our fleet of bikes to 'Hell's Angels' but they went very 'pole pole' (slowly slowly) as they were told that this was our first time. ... a different thing altogether to see it all with my own eyes. With this thought in my head, I realised that I could taste grit between my teeth. Lovely.

After a good 40 minute drive, we arrived at the Reef Hotel where I was introduced to three other GVI volunteers - Ian, Alice and Marisa. We all decided that a visit to the beach and a sleep by the pool was definitely in order and this is how we spent our afternoon!
