    The bread- a staple everywhere in France- a light, crusty baguette for less than one euro.
    And finally, of course, cheap but reasonable wines for around €3 to €5 a bottle in the supermarket, or €8 to €12 a half litre carafe in a restaurant.

    Early nights on continent make for early breakfasts!

    I struck off in search of a bread shop for the morning sustenance. A small shop is on hill nearby and she has more sweets than normal groceries but at least she had bread….sorted.

The town itself was built in 1284 by Edward 1st of England who reigned during this period in this part of France. A visit to the church and a wander around the town completed our visit.     Late start to the day with a another beautiful breakfast prepared and cooked by Jan and Beverly. Then it was into our car with Homer taking us out for the day to the Ile d'Oleron, the second largest French island after Corsica and located north east of Meschers.
