Cap Malabata Tangier, Morocco
... were walking, we
joined the girl and decided to go to Myknes instead. It was late and we had
been on the train for about 7 hours, a spoilt child in our cabin had been
screaming with his mother and grandmother smiling on, and we were fed up. As it
was, we had to walk to the next train station and then take a taxi to Myknes.
The taxis filled themselves up to bursting point (four big adults like us in
the backseat and two in the front) and though cheap enough it was a long ...
... rat was amongst the first things we saw. There were a few kids playing too; one of them gobbed on my leg, which was nice.
There were a couple of guys in their wet, see through undies playing Frisbee with a paint can lid. Rather unsuccessful really. Exhausted by the sheer amount of NOTHING we had found everywhere we headed upstairs for a siesta. Since we couldn’t eat, there wasn’t much else to do. At about 4pm we headed out ...
... had no show. He sold a bit but not the remedy which guaranteed you would lose 8 pounds in a week. He was funny though . Back to the bus escorted all the way down by the bevy of hawkers. They did seem to change as we moved lower so maybe they have their own patch. We also notice that the prices tended to drop quickly as we approached the bus and they got more desperate for a sale. There were some good bargains in the last few metres to the bus. So through ...
Tangier, Morocco daviddx... and chips (so much food at such a little cost), it was nice to eat something other than tangine, couscous or brochette....(although always delish). We eventually made it into the bustling port of Tangier as the sun was setting. We had a few hours to kill for dinner, internet, shopping for supplies and anything else we got up to.....before boarding our overnight train to Marrakesh.....all I can say ...
Tangier, Morocco raniroo... practising their English and trying to give us tours of the town. We considered taking a donkey to Paradise Beach just out of town but then realised that there would be more stalkers there and we wouldn't be able to swim in the inviting, turquoise water because it is not the muslim thing to do. Unless we swam in clothes. I tried on a few designer jellabas. By the way, i have a kaftan now and have started to live in it. It is full-length ...
Asilah, Morocco inoursuitcase... another hour until we have our passports stamped and then we receive a welcome tea with pastries, mmmm, I love both!! Angel bottle of shampoo has broken inside his backpack so we have to wait until he cleans everything in the toilet :-) Outside, a man is waiting for us to take us to our rental car, a peugeot partner, pretty old, but it looks OK (and I emphasixe it looks OK). Renting a car in ...
Tangier, Morocco monworldThis morning, I finished up my packing and then met up with Melissa and Marissa, some friends from ISU, to go catch the bus to Morocco. There were 8 of us from ISU going, and also quite a bit of people from U of I too. But in total there was 80 some people in our group!! Our bus left around 1:30 in the afternoon to Algeciras, the port city of Spain. The bus ride was long, about 4 hours total, and through the mountains. We stopped outside of Málaga for about an ...
Tetouan, Morocco amy22... have been robbed have all told me that all they want is your money, not to hurt you, and that if you give your money over, they will leave you alone. As a people, Moroccans are not out to cause harm to travellers. they themselves are victims of an empoverished country and a blind culture that little by little is loosening its ties to the old days. I've seen things here and have experienced things here that certainly caused discomfort and safety concerns, and have even ...
Tangier, Morocco trg7... saying no, to ignoring them to telling them that whatever they had was ugly... they still didn't get the picture. I have no room for any more souvenirs and I'm on a strict budget! We had one final stop but I can't remember where now, because I was so sick of being hassled that I just wanted to find the damn ferry and leave. So when we stopped at this place, I didn't want to go in (we weren't under any obligation to watch any of the demos) but the street vendors were so bad that ...
Tangiers, Morocco tokyo_cate... tour guide, who spoke English--thank
God--walked me to the main office, and argued in some language for
about 20 mins, and then they said not to worry, the tour van is
turning around... Apparently, I didn´t have the correct documents to
even say I purchased the tour, but I had the sticker they gave me at
the gate, and that seemed to say I DID in fact purchase a tour.... So
my tour ...
