Reading the lonely planet, we were unsure about how easy it would be to get to Dieng Plateau. Hopping on the first bus for 1 hour was followed by a second bus for 2 hours (maybe craziest bus ride yet...getting a lot of air in the back with the passing on the unpaved shoulder and all...almost lost Kevin out of the never closed back door). This was followed by the third bus ride for 15 minutes, and a fourth ride for another hour. With each bus connection, you never ...
Dieng, Java, Indonesia chelseyandkevinActually almost every years I visit this town. It is a small town, near Yogyakarta but It is in Central Java Province. and for the information, It's my mother hometown.
I have the opportunity to visit and stay in this town cause I should have Hospitality or "silaturahmi" with my Grandma. I smell a lot of village things, the conservative ways. It's a peaceful place.
maybe next time I'll rewrite this journal. because I have so much story from my hometown, Purworejo.
... you feel every bump on the road and the stomach can start to churn especially on winding roads!!! To add to this the seat was broken and the back was at a perfect recline so you had to work your abs all the time to stay more or less in a sitting position!!!! (At least we had a group where everyone had their turn in the back and it kind of gave everyone a break!!! - I also noticed that nobody had booked the following day's tour ...
Borobudur, Java, Indonesia bowtieThe trip started smoothly. We got home from habitat for humanity an hour early. This gave me plenty to time to shower, nap and carboload before the flight. Chelsea and I got on the plane with no trouble and landed about 30 minutes after take off. Lion Air's landing seems to be pretty rough in general and this flight was no exception. Landing in Indonesia must be like parallel parking in the states. We all say we can do it but only 10% of the population is ...
Magelang, Java, Indonesia nprivetteLast night I arranged some transport to two of the most impressive and important historical sites on the whole Indonesian archipelago, Borobudur and Prambanan. Both sites are around an hour drive from Yogyakarta and date back to the 8th and 9th centuries. I was joined by a miserable Indonesian sugar-daddy and his cute Indonesian wife who must of been at least 25 years his junior. First we drove to Borobudur which is multi-tiered pyramid ...
Borobudur, Indonesia christosp... and impressive. It sits on a hill, so is visible from some distance. As you get closer and see people climbing the main stairs you realise the scale of the place. Sometimes you get a strong sense of the spirituality of a place, but that didn't happen for me here. I wonder if the temple is simply a means to reflect on and channel ones own personal spirituality? There are more pics of Borobudur to come!
Borobudur, Java, Indonesia bokonon... take this opportunity to remind you of stupas, in case you forgot since Nepal. Everything represents something, but the notable thing about this monument is that it is constructed of nine levels in the shape of a mandala. Going upwards you venture from the secular to the heavenly, with the top of the stupa representing the ultimate. The carvings usually follow this form of representation as well. Well, there was no sunrise. Borobudur was ...
Borobudur, Java, Indonesia youngtravellers... etwa 7 Euro) bekommen habe. XXXXX Instead of the originally planned way I got by mistake the most optimal and shortest route why I reached Borobudur thanks to aceptable traffic, where there is the buddhist Temple to see, which suppoused to be one of the 7 worldwonders. I also got a direct hit with the Lotus II Guesthouse where I got a very spacious and comfortable suite in old-greek-style for 80'000 Rupiah (app. 7 Euro).
Borobudur, Indonesia pajas...
