Today a four-hour, 83km cruise down the river to Yangshuo. Dramatic limestone scenery and verdant hills. Very hazy, but the sun peeked through from time to time. In the afternoon we visited a farmer's house and spoke with the family. Their family had lived there for 14 generations. Despite hazy weather, the dramatic skyward arrowheads of the mountains were still visible and ...
So this morning we have made a very difficult decision - but we've decided to leave Xingping earlier than expected. The area is beautiful and the hostel is lovely but we've exhausted what we wanted to see nearby and it doesn't really make sense to bus it backwards and forwards to Yangshuo each day - so we're off to the Big Banyan Tree! However, firstly we decided to head to the local market in Xingping as it only runs on days ending with a 3, 6 or 9. It was a very ...
