Today we had a fantastic day of tropical island fun! A few of us were going to do the early organised walk to see views from the island but it was cancelled, so we set off ourselves with Josh as our tour guide. We saw a big turtle in the sea, an iguana & our first snake! A baby brown - seemingly one of the most poisonous in the world. We …
We were up at 5am this morning for a quick breakfast then the anchor was pulled up & we were away!! The crew told us we were sailing to Whitehaven Beach so we were on the look out for a stunning beach whilst drinking tea on deck. When we anchored in Tongue Bay we were all a bit gutted as it looked pretty average. We got the dingy to the beach & …
I woke up this morning feeling rough, it was a horrible night on the boat. I was cold and tired and being shouted at by the captain to get up, not a good start to the day. I didn't go snorkelling as I was still cold and very tired but we watched some of the others dive out. They said the sights were very similar to the Great Barrier Reef. Our next …
Today I woke up feeling really rough so I skipped breakfast and had a lay in. I got dressed into my bikini and beach dress and headed down to the pool area. The other girls had gone out on paddle boards, which I really wanted to do but just couldn't face it with my cold. At 10am we did a Zumba class on the veranda, next to the beach. It was a …
To think I almost blew this off, being too expensive - it is - and the Great Barrier Reef being too polluted. Again, it is, threatened not so much from the small human population, only 20 million or so for the entire country, but by the runoff from farms totaling 100 million sheep and 27 million cattle. That's a lot of animal doo doo. Not to …

The rooms are newly renovated due to a cyclone. They were still working on some but you didn't even know they were there. Friendly staff, great surroundings. Hikes are not the best.

Historical Traveler Reviews Long Island Resort
I'm going to be honest because I used tripadvisor reviews to help me when deciding on a place to stay.
Since I gained so much insight from the reviews when planning my honeymoon, I thought I would add my review so as to help others with their planning.
We spent four days here in the Whitsundays and were impressed with the quality of our beachfront room and the facilities at the resort. The food was also good, with lots of choice and variety. The water on the resort however was disgusting, yet they charged a fortune for bottled water. The restaurant itself however was not very inspiring, which was a shame because with a makeover it could be very atmospheric rather than feeling like a canteen.
The beach has beautiful views and there are some lovely walks on the island. My only criticism would be that the activities were overpriced.
Good location, Average resort
The best feature of this resort is it's location on the stunning whitsunday islands. The resort does have it's problems, the staff are OK but not overly helpful and the food is OK but not brilliant. The rooms seem dated and in need of refurbishment and air conditioners are loud and dated, although all rooms come with a balcony.
Also bear in mind this hotel is used by club 18-30 holidays so late night noise could be an issue, especially for families.
My husband and I headed off to Long Island, with more than a little trepidation, having read some, not so flattering, reviews. However, DESPITE, the slightly ordinary weather, and the pool and bar being under construction, we had a marvelous time. The beachfront rooms are definately the go, to have a position directly on the beach for that kind of money is fantastic! The views are magnificent. The rooms are not 5 star but are still really great, cleaned daily and cleaned well. The food was great, the staff VERY friendly and always helpful. The people in the dive school did a magnificent job of training and coaxing the otherwise cautious into an ocean dive, for the most memorable experience ever! Water sports were fabulous too. There are enough activities to keep you occupied if you want some adventure, but its also quiet enough to feel you are away from the madding crowd! Very family friendly, but also great for couples. Long Island has a great beach, better than most of the other resorts in the area. We will definately be returning, if only to see the newly renovated pool and swim up bar!! Well done Long Island.
My husband and I have been to many resorts in Australia and to Bora Bora, Tahiti for our honeymoon, but Club Croc, Long Island was by far the worst holiday we have ever had.
Good Budget accomodation
Good budget accomodation for couples and families. The buffet meals were great and there were lots of things to do during the day. The rooms were Ok although a bit on the shabby side but it was sufficient. Services was above average, the staff were all young and friendly.
My husband & I have just returned from a 'romance package' holiday at Club Crocodile Long Island. The resort was fabulous, the room was very clean & nicely furnished (OK it is a room not a suite, but with these surroundings you only go there to sleep anyway). The beachfront rooms are just a few steps over manicured lawn to the beach. Customer service, restaurant, housekeeping & groundstaff were all very friendly & pleased to help or chat. The resort had heaps of activities, the island was beautiful, the weather great. The buffet meals at the restaurant were all excellent with lots of variety. We had lots of extras in our package that made it the perfect holiday escape. There were families at the resort as well, but the couples were housed at the opposite side of the main buildings and so it was Very quiet and peaceful near the room. A short stroll through the gardens to all the action. We couldn't have asked for anything better & the price was very reasonable. Well worth the trip!!
Most beautiful resort location ever
I've never stayed at a room with a view as nice as this Club Crocodile. Perfect water, amazing sunsets, and to top it off, the resort was great! The staff was overly friendly, and there was sooooooo much to do that I really wish I could have been there longer (only stayed 3 days). The rooms were perfectly clean and very comfortable! And I'd definitely suggest getting the beachfront rooms (most rooms are beachfront at the resort). If you're ever in the area, I definitely recommend it!
Bathroom was so smelly and full of mould. Airconditioner was extremly loud and smelly and was covered on 5mm thick of mould. grounds and gardens were very untidy. food was great. Staff very friendly people who like the accomodation to be clean and mould free, give this reosrt a miss.
