      ... party starts early in the afternoon and runs pretty much all night. For some reason, pigs are a symbol of good luck in the new year and pink piggy hats are a popular item at the souvenir stands. Of course, warm punsch is also available. The crowd in front of the Rathaus at midnight was huge, thousands, and packed a little too tight for my comfort. We stood on the edges and watched the fireworks.       ... It has a baroque majesty about it created in part by several Prince-Archbishops who all managed major building programs leaving over 100 churches, castles, and palaces in the village.

      There were great Christmas markets in city and photos to be taken of the Convent from 'The Sound of Music'. Long day but interesting. Ros enjoyed it more than any other day I think.

      ... snow was appearing in the paddocks and side of the road. We stopped to take photos of the thatched cottage and the nice gentleman invited us in to his property which we did. He was very friendly which was nice as a lot of Germans and Austrians have been very abrupt. We have stumbled across a few nice ones for the record. We had a nice "bakerie" stop where Neil chose some macaroons. I ended up having one of them and they were delicious!! Well we finally got to our accommodation ...

      ... hot chocolate you could imagine, and the tastiest potato chips. We've had a beautiful dinner of chicken, cranberries, and brie at a little pension that Ive forgotten the name of. And we've had kilo pork knees in the same tavern we visited last time, Krmca Satlavske.       ... Rosta started by showing us where the original non-pasturised, unfiltered beer is made, the way it was when the brewery started back in the 17th century on the same site. He told us that no computers are involved and a master brewer tastes it at every step to decide more hops, more mash etc. Then we went into the cellars where the beer is sitting in barrels.
