we sailed into boothsbay in the dark (as usual). we only had limited lights, so it was a crew effort to communicate with chris who was motoring the boat in via GPS coordinates and autopilot.
"boat at 1 o'clock!"
"mooring at 11 o'clock!"
we successfully docked (at the wrong dock than planned but we docked none the less). we had hoped to get farther up the coast but the last few days had been light wind (cary said ...
... walked around the town. apparently there are two ice cream shops in town. both had lines out the door. we stood in a line for awhile but it was just too ridiculous to be in the line for long. how sad that the ice cream is so hard to get here!
... it is on my pile to read.
I have to tell you about this RV Park we are staying at it is called Meadowbrook. We just picked it out of one of the RV books we have and for no reason in particular. The owners are second generation and very nice and friendly. In the office they have a big tank and scales and you pick out a lobster costing 6.99 per lb they cook whichever one you choose. In addition Clams can be steamed to add to the seafood ...
Cont'd Another long bus ride took us to dinner in Maine. The restaurant was called Buck's Naked Barbecue. Mr. Nish thought everyone needs to undress before going into the restaurant. They had Pool tables, foosball, and a jukebox. The girls were playing the jukebox a lot. Mr. Nish played a few songs that no one liked. Fortunately the hotel was 5 minutes away. But now we have a study session. Peace out! Krislyn and Courtney
Freeport, Maine, United States hms_travelDay 14-15 Eating lots of seafood and blueberry pie. YUM! Shopping for pottery and local art in Boothbay Harbor. Driving out Hwy 27 and 238 and off the beaten path, we find Newagen, a lovely cove with all the beauty and character of Maine.
Boothbay Harbor, Maine, United States travelredgang... much as I like lobster so I was ok with that. The scallops by the way were delicious. After dinner it started raining harder so it appears Hannah had finally arrived. We made it to Brunswick about 5 miles further up the road and checked in for the night. The Knights Inn was ok. Nothing fancy, a little musty but clean and reasonable. Didn't do much but turn on the TV and go to bed. It had been a really long day; up at 4:30 and losing 2 hours time-wise. We was tired.
Brunswick, Maine, United States coppertop... on to Montpelier, this is the state capital of Vermont, only half the size of Burlington but a real stunner of a town. We parked up the car and completed a walking tour. The buildings and churches were very appealing with their golden domes and spires set against the green of the mountain slopes. Montpelier is one of the leading hospitality centres in the States and there are several establishments including a bakery which are staffed by students from ...
Freeport, Maine, United States andyfreshwaterToday, we made our way to Bar Harbor, Maine, but decided we must stop at L.L. Bean. We love L.L. Bean! Freeport, Maine is the home of the L.L. Bean company; therefore, they have retail and outlet stores for shoppers to visit. I must say I was a bit disappointed that I did not find anything at the outlet store. I had a checklist in my mind of what I was looking for, and none of it was to be found. Oh ...
Freeport, Maine, United States wsult3... walk the Freedom Trail, past Paul Revere's house the oldest house in Boston and many other historical places but it was not to be. While driving into Boston we were following our GPS laptop system it did not have the correct maps since the Big Dig under Boston. By the time we realized where we were Boston was in our rear view mirror. So on we went through New Hampshire to Maine. We stopped in Freeport Maine the home of Lands End and had ...
Freeport, Maine, United States cainrvtripWe woke up and after getting all of our stuff together, went to find a place to eat lunch. I fell down the stairs as we were checking out, causing much laughter. Where's the concern for my well being?! Anyway, after the show, we went to downtown Portland and ate in a café. Roman had multiple problems with his order, but they finally got it right. I had zero problems, and was very entertained by the waiter trying to get the order correct. We then decided to take the duck ...
