Historical Traveler Reviews Lighthouse Key Resort And Spa Kissimmee
We just returned home from our stay at the Lighthouse Resort. It was am amazing experience and I couldn't wait to post a review. I came across the property on a discount website and thought the pictures looked great. As beautiful as the pictures were, the actually villa is even more amazing! Here was the major drawback: I called and was told the resort was sold out. The lady stated that when you try to enter your credit card info on one of the websites, you would find out there were no rooms avail. She said the site would not accept my credit card number because they were sold out. Well, I was able to make the reservation on the southwest.com website. I had a confirmation number and showed up at the hotel and was told they had no room for us. The front desk attendant was pleasant and professional but EXTREMELY slow!!! She was answering phone and trying to figure out how to get us a room. It was very unsettling to think I could give my credit card number, obtain a confirmation number then get to the property and be informed that I don't have a room. I'm not certain how the discount sites work, but I thought each one had a certain number of rooms they could book. The attendant worked it out and we ended up with a 3bd/3ba villa. (By the way, got the same lady again at check out. Still slooowww as ever ...!) We opened the oversized front door to the villa and were stunned at how beautiful it was on the inside. The decor, stainless steel appliances and soft lighting were incredible. We made full use of the property including the billiard room, movie theater, pool/hot tub and game room. To relax in the evening, my husband and I took a wonderful bath in one of two whirlpool tubs in our room. For some reason, the whirlpool jets came back on later after we turned it off - that was weird. I agree with the other visitor who said it was a little annoying that there was no shelf in the shower. I didn't like the idea, either, of having to put my soap on the shower floor. The plasma tv's were awesome and the bed is sooooo comfortable. I highly recommend this property. I must admit that the pool area does leave a bit to be desired. Seems like they could have done a little better job designing it. We didn't bring the kids with us, but, believe they would have had a great time if we had.
The only thing I didn't like, was very minor, I think that the hotel should get a self for inside the shower I didn't like that I had to put my soap on the floor. Other then that I will definitely try to come back! This hotel was the best hotel I've ever stayed in. It was beautiful, comfortable, and safe. The staff is top-notch!
Our experience here began much like "glad2bemarried's" did. However, after being lied to about them trying to contact us, we were directed to another resort where we were promised that it was just like this one. We went to the owner building just down the street from the resort where my hubby had words with the manager there. We ended up in a 3 bedroom GORGEOUS condo. (we booked a 2 bed on Southwest for dirt cheap!) This place is gorgeous and we figured that they are still working out the kinks. The pool is so different and is handicap accessible! It also has 2 cuddle coves. The second pool is a plain rectangle, but very nice about 40 X 18. The hot tub was a good size and the temp was perfect. Everything was just beautiful and we ended up having a terrific time. Our kids loved everything. It was just a little tough at first. I was glad that I had taken our confirmation with us or they would've gotten away with something that I'm sure Mike Ditka and Joan Lunden would not be very proud of.
I hope that "glad2bemarried" will give them another chance.
My husband and I stayed here on a "leave the kids at home" retreat. The resort was very clean and everyone there was really, really nice. We requested a two-bedroom suite but they were out when we checked in, so we were upgraded to the four bedroom, three bath. HUGE!! For the frequent traveler, this is the perfect get away from the standard hotel room.
We would definately stay here again. We have actually talked about have a family reunion down in Orlando for the holidays.
Awesome rooms, great ammenities
My husbabnd and I were searching for hotels on line when we came acroos Lighthouse. My husband saw it was a Mike Ditka Resort and was intantly interested. After I saw the ammenities of the spa and the photos of the room I was sold.
The rooms were amazing. Brand new everything! We had a 2 bedroom villa, it was huge. It had a full kitchen so we were able to make breakfast every morning to save on cost (traveling to Disney with 2 kids is not cheap) It also had a great movie theater to wind down in.
We spent a day at the pool and I had a massage at the spa. It was the best. Much needed after long days at an amusement park. The kids had a blast at the pool and my husband certainly enjoyed the pool bar.
With the property sitting on a lake, they really should have a beach or some water activities.
This trip was great! Fun had by the whole family.
I Enjoyed My Stay at Lighthouse Key
I went to Lighthouse Key in June 2007 with my best friend for a girls weekend away. I thought the rooms looked great and the pool area was nice to just sit and relax in the sun. My friend and I treated ourselves to a nice 50 min message in the spa and I have to say I was very impressed with how nice the spa looks and the service they provided.
Recomend this Resort
The resort is great I really enjoyed playing pool in the clubhouse, the only thing that was missing is they should offer movie and xbox rentals.
Great Price for Luxury
I got a great introductory rate to stay at this brand new resort and spa in Kissimmee, FL. The staff was very welcoming and I stayed in a very spacious two-bedroom suite with a great view of the pool. The food in the deli was delicious and it was nice to have on site. I really enjoyed the movie theater on the cloudy Sunday afternoon, my only negative would be that they don't serve cocktails by the pool area, but when I asked why they informed me that they will be offering them in the future.
Really awesome stay
I like to get away at least once every few months and my travel agent
told me about this property. I'm not really all that keen on staying somewhere new, but it was a good price for what they were offering.
I got to the hotel and its really clean and I guess because its brand
new, but I mean extremely clean. Staff was pretty good, your usual mix of super excellent and then the normal run of the mill employees.
For the most part they were all pretty informative, and helpful when I was around them.
Not alot of people were around, but then again I spent the majority of my time out in Orlando, there is a pretty nice club scene if you like to go out.
The rooms were amazing, I'm pretty sure I would stay again, but that rate I got had to be special because the rooms are just way too much for what i paid. I expected Ramada Parkway and got something out of a
Vegas Hotel for those rooms. Really can't believe the rate, rooms are definitely worth alot more.
Pool was huge and the food in the deli was good, it was deli food. So
if you like sandwich stuff and all that jazz, then your be into it. they had a hooulihans across the way and that was pretty convineient also.
All in all I'm pretty sure i got lucky and got in when I could, that hotel is definitely gonna be more expensive next time I come around. the rooms are amazing, the area was good, and the staff was friendly.
there wasn't alot of other people to tlak to or meet at the poolbar, but I chalked it up to being new and not having alot of people there.
I maybe saw like 10 other people the whole time I stayed. My girl loved it though, she got the whole sun area to herself one day.
Big place, nice rooms, I would stay again when I come down.
Hated this place - Dont stay or buy here - Its overrated!
We contacted the resort directly to make a reservation for our parents for their anniversary. We were quoted an excellent rate with our AAA discount, and we confirmed the reservation with our credit card. We live across the country from our parents, and because my husband and I made the reservation the confirmation was mailed to us. When our parents showed up at the hotel they had completed deleted our original reservation and replaced it with a rate that was four times what we had confirmed. They would not honor the initial rate that the resort itself had confirmed unless documentation was provided, which in the end I had to drive 45 minutes home from work and then 30 minutes to the resort (no home fax/scanner) in the middle of work day to provide. Meanwhile my family waited for 2 hours tired and exhausted in the lobby with no where to go. I had to wait at the front gate for 7 minutes while the security guard got off his cell phone, which I suspected as a personal call by what I overheard. The situation was handled poorly by the front desk staff who was rude and un-sympathetic. I asked repeatedly on the phone and in person to speak to the general manager, who showed up at the very end, and was just as rude and uncaring, offering only a fruit basket for the choas. After 2 and a half hours of confrontation they honored their own rate quote. Check in still proceeded very slowly. I had to return to the front desk twice to get the room keys and my receipt.
Upon attempting to check in, the first room we entered was not clean. The second unit we entered was missing some kitchen items and blankets. We had to call the front desk twice and it took housekeeping 4 hours to replace the items that evening.
Upon touring the rest of the resort, the food quality in the onsite deli was poor, the bartender of the poolside bar had not ever blended or mixed a drinks before so the quality of the drinks were poor. The temperature of the spa went back and forth between being leukwarm and extremely hot. They have a pool, movie theater, game room, exericise facilities, and a partially functional spa. There was no pool attendant or pool towel offered. The activities for small children on site were limited. The facilities are nice, but the quality is not good for the price they ask for a nightly rate or for a fractional ownership investment. Either way it is overpriced for the quality and customer service that you get when you stay.
My husband and I travel constantly and have spent extensive time in orlando/kissimmee area resorts and hotels. We also own several rental properties in the area and several other timeshare investments with other companies. We have stayed at many other "grand opening" resorts in the area where the customer service was awesome . . . .not Lighthouse Key. In our opinion your time and money is better spent elsewhere. There are many properties in the same area that are much better in terms of price, customer service, facilities, quality, and activities.

... food was delicious, there was lots of seafood and salads to choose from. There was hummus and pita chips, tabouleh and other middle eastern options. They even had pretty good sushi rolls.
