Our next stop wasn't too far away, only a cheeky journey across the water to a small Island called Higatangan. We left our resort on Biliran and headed back down the coast to Naval, from where we would catch a boat for the 30 minute journey over to the island. A short wait in the town and our boat was prepping to leave so we walked down the plank and sat down. Within a minute or two, a lady called us from the edge of the port and told us our transfer ...

... the mother of all rainstorms opened up and we got absolutely drenched, the rain came down so hard and fast the ground didn't have time to absorb the water and we ended up with flip flops in our hands, wading back to our side of the island! That evening we had dinner and drinks on the beach and watched the most amazing huge full moon shining and reflecting on the water.

Thank goodness I came prepared with all the drugs! By the ...

... how to get anywhere and everywhere basically. I got into contact with a few people I've met during my time in the Philippines this summer, asking for their recommendations, and of course both of them say different things. Finally, after discussing my options with one of the instructors at TSD, he made an extremely valide point: the majority of the Visayas all have the same things to see, I've already seen giant mantas, thresher sharks, a whale ...

    My First Shark Bite.........Shot(s)

... being in safety stop mode, everyone bolted back down the line as fast as they could and next thing you know, the manta was just 3 meters below us! Something that is that big in the water almost looks unnatural, it almost looked fake how big it was, and how smoothly it was just gliding through the water. My first giant manta encounter, and the manta season has just begun! Hopefully the next time I see one I'll actually be on the bottom though.
