    Christmas day was the first time away from home for both of us - not the best start!! It seems father christmas is not as good in Asia and it also makes you realise how Christmas should be a family time! Both families were missed greatly. Unfortunately the weather took a turn for the worse as expected and it rained throughout Christmas day and affected the power on the island too - we were plunged into rustic times with no electricity!!

    ... already charged us to go over … but it was only 25 pence, so it wasn’t worth arguing about.

    Accommodation on the island was a lot more expensive than we were used to paying elsewhere in Asia, and the quality was not any better to compensate for it.     ... baby to come out. It was a very messy process, there was a bucket sitting on the floor to catch the fluids but wasn't doing the best job. The midwife had to do like 3 episiotomies. It was her fourth child, the head kept coming and then returning to the birth canal. Finally the head came out far enough for the midwife to grab a hold of, then she pulled until the baby's shoulders came out. It was a baby girl and she looked a little blue when she came out.
