Historical Traveler Reviews of Le Meridien Phuket Yacht Club
Generous hotel
from A TripAdvisor Member
I stay here for a week. The service was good, from the champaign upon arrival with flowers to the mercedes when i leaved. Hotel staff were very friendly and quite candid. The thai food was not to my standard but the italian restaurant was great. (if you want a hotel with great food, go to dusit lagoona). The architecture of the hotel isn't one of the best, but offers great oceanview in every room. In fact it was always better looking out from the hotel than to the hotel. Lobby is great place to be. The beach is definitely better than those facing the indian ocean because it descend gently over a great distance with placid surf condition since it is within a bay, unlike beaches in the lagoona resorts which drop deep and are often turbulent. Overall, this is a very generous hotel. I have to say the hotel staffs gave me a great surprise because they offer an upgrade from a junior suit to a superior suite. (the price difference is like 100usd) I book the spa package which is wonderful because you can choose everything from a long list of spa menu as long as it doesn't exceed 2 hours. The out door treattment space is a must. Quality of the massage is great since some of the therapists used to teach in a famous massage school within a temple in BKK. Yes it is out of the way but the hotel had arranged some fun activities everyday such as cooking class and fruit carving....etc. Overall it was money well spent and i liked it. (stay at the top 9th floor for it offers most privacy since the terraces only partially overlap each other )
Not too impressed

I have just returned from a weekend in Phuket. I have stayed at Le meridien Royal Yatch Club. For those of you who are planning to stay there in May, just think again. Because the pool is under renovation during the whole month of May. They arranged another hotel's facilities nearby but it is not as convenient as having it downstairs. The beach is also not a private beach. So it does not give you the secluded feeling. When I was there, there was a swimming ban as the sea was rough. So without sea and pool, there is nothing else to do. On the positive side, the spa was nice. The staff was friendly. But I was upset that the management has not posted pool renovation on their website. The other thing the travelers should consider is the fact that the resort is located on the south tip of the island which is 45-50 mins cab drive from the airport (Baht 600 normal cab-Baht 1200 hotel transfer). Overall, not too impressed....
Best Resort on Phuket

We made our first trip to Thailand from the United States and weren't sure what to expect after the tsunami. We were both so extremely impressed. The hotel and staff were terrific. Even though the rooms could use a little refurbishing it was great. The food was fantastic and the fact that the hotel is located quite a distance from the very busy Patong Beach area was nice.
We would definitely go back.
Can't beat it

Just stayed at the Yacht Club 4/2005 and can't say enough good things about it. This is the finest resort in Phuket hands down. It is a little ways from town and is on a secluded beach. Highly recommend
Fantastic hotel, wonderful friendly staff

just returned from 2 weeks of luxury at meridien yacht club cannot thank the staff there enough they made my wife and myself so welcome and could not do enough to help us
not a hotel for those wanting busy late nights as the resort if quite secluded and away from the main attractions of patong, kata, karon etc being situated in nai harn bay only small gripe would be expensive restaurants and drinks but this did not detract from the fact that this is a beautiful hotel and well worth a visit
cannot wait to go back again

I stayed here January of 2004. This hotel is wonderful. The room is big. Every room has a view. The balcony is the size of the room with a whole set of patio furnitures. The beach is right downstairs. It's so relaxing. Given the hotel's southern location, you have to get a taxi (about 15 minutes) to go to Patong and the more happening side of town. So don't stay here if you want to live amongst the party. It worked out perfect for me though. The staff was very helpful. She even confirmed my flight for me and arrange a boat for my later trip to another island. The only bad thing was the wake-up call never happened, and my canoeing guide was waiting for us downstairs. Luckily they called us upon the guide's request. We got a decent price directly from their website, but the good price doesn't include breakfast.
Couldn't fault this one!

Looks like Manchester likes this hotel! We also thought the hotel rooms and size of balconies were fab. THe beach was clean and very scenic. Hotel hospitality and food fantastic. Only downer was the weather..it rained..and rained..so we had many of the treatments on offer in the fabulous spa. Will definately return!
Ps if you want hustle and bustle don't book here - it is a tranquil resort
Outstanding

This hotel is wonderful. We did a lot of research and came to this one. We were not at all disappointed. The hotel is beautiful, the balconies are massive, bigger than most hotel rooms (MAKE SURE you get a deluxe room to get these balconies). Small boutique place on the best beach in Phuket (we saw many other hotels and beaches and none matched, except in the 300US$+ price range). The only hotel to choose on Phuket....
Lovely hotel

Have just returned having spent 8 nights at the hotel.
The hotel is very isolated and as a result you feel you are on the edge of the jungle, i booked this hotel based on the size of the balconys which were wonderful and better than any web site or brochure photography, which is unusal.
The food is excellent and well priced. The drinks for thailand quite expensive happy hour between 6-7pm good value ( 2 for the price of one), which is nice to have, in the mood for dinner, maid service excellent. very friendly staff.
The only downside is, it is not good for the less mobile, one lift at the furthest point for hotel rooms, the better rooms in terms for total privacy are away from the lifts from floor 6-9 you walk, the nearer your are to the lift if you are sunbathing on your balcony you can be seen . When it rains the corridor floors are semi-open and get very slippery too the point of dangerous. The cafes outside (4) are cheaper but food a bit bland. Taxis very limited so car hire essential. (jeep only).

A member of the Leading Hotels of the World. You are greeted upon arrival with hot towels and a cold drink. Walked into the room and could only say WOW! Fantastic ocean view with huge private balcony just as you see in the pictures. Good food and cafe overlooks the beach/ocean. The beach can get crowded but a portion belongs only to the hotel and they provide you with your own cabana type seat. Spa/Salon offers several services. The entire hotel is breathingtaking overflowing with orchids everywhere you walk. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Good hamburgers.
