Barrier Reef Drive, P O Box 13 San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize Cayes, Belize
... bus again and set off through the little town, was pretty and by this time we were driving a long the Carribean Coast. Our bus driver stopped at the start of Belize City and treated himself to a coffee and breakfast while we waited in the bus! From what we saw out the window of Belize City, it wasn´t somewhere worth visiting, more so, probably best to avoid. Very trailer park to say the least. We were dropped at ...
San Pedro, Belize cosbo... a racist against blacks, which is crazy as everyone here IS black. ran into some guys we knew who were staying in the cabin in front of us too which was nice. had a quiet night that night adn the next dya went on a snorkelling trip out to the reefs. i was a bit scared as i know they have hammerhead and tiger sharks adn one of the snorkeling stops was to go swimming with sharks. anyone who knows my ridiculous phobia of sharks will understand how i felt about that ...
Caye Caulker, Belize Cayes, Belize smiley_kab... in developing peoples perceptions. whoda thunk it. the local kids here seem to be facinated with me. apparently i am the first white "rasta man" that they have seen.... maybe i just look weird. Life here at the resort is really easy and idyllic (see pics) the roughtest part of my day, i imagine, will be deciding whether to go snorkeling on the reef or play beach volleyball, or lounge about in the sun next to or in the carribean...
San Pedro, Belize kjerstan... leapt off the bus and immediately disappeared in search of relief. On reaching Belize City we made a hasty trip across town to make the next water taxi to Caye Caulker, and before we knew it we speeding along on our second boat ride of the day. In comparison with Tobacco Caye, Caye Caulker is just enormous, but really that´s not saying much! It has loads of restaurants, golf buggies, souvenir shops and guesthouses...and yet, we almost began to despair as we were turned away from ...
Caye Caulker, Belize Cayes, Belize yorkieandloxy... amidst the pines and hickories...I grew in those season like corn in the night, and they were far better than any work of the hands would have been. They were not time subtracted from my life, but so much over and above my usual allowance...For the most part, I minded not how the hours went...Instead of singing like the birds, I silently smiled at my incessant good fortune. My days were not days of the week ...
Caye Caulker, Belize snowchick2001... and watching people burn in the sun we retired to hammocks and watched the world go by. The weather was still windy and i was dreading not going out diving tommorrow The morning came the wind was blowing but the dive was on. The Blue hole is situated in the middle of Lighthouse Reef and is a sinkhole of blue water about 400ft deep and 1000ft wide. It was made famous by Jacque Costo and tourist posters of Belize. The dive was amazing not because there were many ...
Caye Caulker, Belize pjcrus... we came for, was fantastic. To get out across the reef, we were rocking through awful waves, but the visibility and the depth were incredible (we went down to 90feet!! 50 feet farther than before!), and we saw some amazing colourful creatures. On the second dive, John's stomach decided that it did not appreciate the 20 foot waves, and chose to stay behind... Honestly, I don't blame him, and if I had not spent numerous weekends on boats off the west coast of BC in weather no one should ...
San Pedro, Belize rayganmsol... since, as the hostess said, "We are out of pizza." As we arrived half an hour before they closed, we didn't question that. Also, Don Corleone's fulfilled our current streak of trying Italian food in every country we visit (we'd already managed the Chinese food part back in Corozal). As it was dark, wet, and we had an all day snorkeling tour in the morning, we turned in pretty soon after dinner, with no further adventures walking around in the mud on Caye Caulker.
Caye Caulker, Belize wktsorf... way. Joe - a super cool New Yorker and Alynna - our volunteer friend from Oregon. We ate under a canopy on the beach. A storm rolled in while we were eating and our waiter had to keep using a broom to knock the water off of the canopy. It was quite enjoyable.
San Pedro, Belize quickbird... perfect place. The Oasis´ oceanfront views, pool, rooftop lookout and beautiful Caribbean decorated rooms are more than enough to complete the reality of a different, more peaceful existence. If there will ever be a point when Del Fuego´s mission is in danger...it is our stay on this island. It is difficult to imagine ever wanting to part with La Isla Bonita...mission or no mission. What a good problem to have.
