So aside from some pretty scary rain on the way to my first stop everything went smoothly, that is until my GPS said that I had reached my destination and I looked around and realized that I was in the middle of a trailer park . . . keep in mind the first destination was West Virginia . . . think upscale Deliverance. The name of the hotel was …
Great Allegheny Passage Bike Trip – Day 5: Confluence, PA to Connellsville, PA
We woke up late and started late because this is the shortest leg of our ride at 31 miles. The distance was dictated by the available campgrounds, and we will still only have less ...
... climb, the ride is all downhill to Pittsburgh!
I think the biggest lesson learned by the girls today is not to believe everything that you hear. Yes, the ride up was a challenge, but not nearly as hard as it was made out to be. One benefit that we did ...
... them, but I couldn't stop shivering! The last 30 minutes or so of the trip the sun returned and I warmed up and by the time we pulled into shore we were all in great spirits and ready for the next item on the agenda: Natural Waterslide.
I really wish I could explain to all of you just how NOT supervised this 'waterslide' is. There's a parking lot and a big sign "Natural Waterslide" and you walk down some steps, and sure enough, there's the ...
So first, let me say, that I am pretty darn proud of myself for not only taking on the crazy adventure of taking my two boys on a road trip alone, but also of planning (sort of?) and packing (definitely) for the whole thing on my own. I even managed to throw in a last minute birthday party celebration in GR on Thursday night and work all day Friday before leaving and still had the van packed full of camping equipment, groceries, clothes, ...

What A Dump
This is a very old and outdated resort. We had intended on staying for a week, however checked out the next morning.First condo was very dirty and linens were in need of changing, chairs and furniture was dirty, carpet smelled of mildew. We were then sent to another condo....not much better. Anyway we left after one night.staff was very nice and even had a book of the better units,if you must stay ask for an updated unit, furniture from the late 80's.
We stayed in room 325. The hotel does need some renovation. Our beds were comfortable; our room was clean. The carpets were clean (a biggie to me). We didn't have time for the pool. Would not recommend having a catered event here. Sound system didn't work, and the food was mediocre. With some renovation, this could be a nice place.
Not a 3 Star
I was hoping NOT to get this hotel again through PL, but did. $54..waay too much.
We just stayed here overnight. I had stayed here 2yrs ago during a blizzard and I really didn't notice anything wrong; I was just grateful to not to be on the road.
Anyway, we arrived very late in the evening and seeing the Tiki torches lit up was impressive upon checking in. That's where it ends.
Our room was #100. Overall it seemed to be clean. The beds were hard and old. Pillows were flat- Bring your own. Towels were old and gray-Bring your own. This hotel really needs an overhaul.
I have no idea how this is rated a 3 star, but it isn't.
The scenery is beautiful around the hotel; you're better off camping here.
Let me start out by telling you what is good about this place. The location and hotel grounds are beautiful, right on Cheat Lake. There are two golf courses, both of which are fantastic, and tthe spa and fitness facility are top notch. The tiki bar is fun in the evenings.
Staff is very helpful but unless you are really into golf the place really doesn't offer much. Rooms and halls are musty smelling with peeling wall paper. Restaurant staff is good but menu is less than stellar.
Had a relaxing getaway all in one place!
My partner and I stayed at the lakeview resort and we had a great laid back break without really living the hotel. We hung out at the fitness center (indoor poor was out of order) in the whirlpool, sauna and steamroom. We went to the spa right up the hill. We drank at the pub, played pool and slots. We took pictures of the area. It was a great little get-away. The facilities were clean and comfortable (not outstanding, but nice). The staff was nice (not very knowledgable about the area though). We are going back next weekend for another short getaway. I would definitely reccomend this place!
stayed in a 2 bdrom condo. condo was fine. old, in need of a good cleaning and some updating. missing lots of "normal" amenities. only 4 very small coffee cups, very few dishes (good thing we had brought paper plates) stairs are very very creaky, bathrooms were clean, beds were the most awful we have ever slept on, only 2 chairs on porch,.
stayed over memorial day weekend, was looking for a hotel in the area (i live around here) that had a pool and was close by for my 3yr old. The weather forecast wasn't that great, so an "indoor pool" was the main reason i booked here plus i had stayed here numerous times over the years. When i got there, they told me the "indoor pool" was closed due to a electrical problem....went and saw it and it was completely drained and looked as if major renovations were going on. So, wasn't real happy and my daughter was majorly disappointed. Rooms were very below average, the closet door was ready to fall off, there wasn't any type of guide to the hotel in the roomo so i could figure out what was available or what hours or anything. Called the front desk and they said they didn't have anything to replace it. Blood pressure climbing. Ready to leave. But, the people there were trying there best to provide great service. Key was trying! Dining was also average. This facility has really dropped off in quality over the years. Waiters disappeared during dinner and breakfast. Food was nothing but average. All buffet all the time. Dining room even closed on mondays! Anyway, i'll stay at the raddison next time, pay the extra money. But, if you like golf, the courses are still primo for around here!!!!
Stayed in the Condo's and enjoyed a week of golf
Check in was on time an excellent for a change. The activities set up for the week were done well and spirited. Save a few issues with the golf package, the weather semi cooperated and we were able to play several rounds of golf. Overall, I enjoy the accomodating and pleasing service I received all week.
I just came back from the Lakeview Scanticon
gofl Resort in wonderful Morgantown W. Va. I had 0
hopes for this place but was told it had great affordable golf and was a good get-a-way from Philly, about 3.5 h.
It was spectacular. The prices were really, really
reasonable and the people were sooo nice. Thier Lakeview golf course is one of the best courses I have ever played ...really scenic, hard but playable and in excellent condition. Food is super and the rooms are pretty good. Go there for a good retreat..it's worth it.
