    ... temperature was pretty comfortable reaching down into the mid 40's, but it rained all freaking night. It never got too hard, but it also never really stopped either until it was time to wake up. Overall, the area got about a 1/2 inch of rain overnight. Luckily, my tent held and I was able to stay dry. This would actually be the only time I had to deal with rain on any of the nights that I camped out.

    ... and out of the way detour. You want to talk about rural? There is absolutely nothing in South Central Missouri. It felt like one of the most rural, desolate locations of the entire journey. Despite the twists and the turns, I was able to make it to Osage Beach at a reasonable hour and upon my arrival, I discovered that I had access to a full kitchen and a charcoal grill.     Sunday, Oct. 5th, shoved off from St. Louis for a stressful drive to the Lake of the Ozarks. First the busy 4 laners with the tractor trailers and then the most winding roads ever and absolutely not a single amount of a shoulder anywhere! If you drift even slightly off the edge of the road, forget it. Your vehicle will be rolling around down the bank. Jim drove and I'm sure it was stressful for him. Absolutely no margin for error ...
