A fantastic place to stay while visiting Cairns. The room was spacious and had everything you needed. It was clean and tidy with all mod cons.

The grounds were lovely and the pool was great.

We are going back again in 2005 and would recommend it every time.

Early July we stayed at the Lakes Cairns for 10 nights. We could not have chosen a better place! This is the best! We had a 2 bedroom appartment which was beautifully equipped. Staff are most welcoming and very obliging. It's like a home in a village away from home.

Very enjoyable also the different kinds of pools - especially great to have a lap pool - oh how I miss my early morning swims!

We would go back there any time and recommend the Lakes to anyone thinking about staying in Cairns! But do go in the winter time - it's the perfect climate!!

What can I say that hasn't been said in the other reviews? This place is fantastic. As far as apartment style hotels go this is the best that I have seen. The resort is the kind of place that you'd want to live in permanently. The lush gardens, wonderful swimming pools and lagoons, and the well-equipped apartments were hard to drag myself away from after only 3 nights. The only drawback that I could find is the fact that the resort is situated directly under the flight path to the airport and it got quite noisy at times. But if you can overlook this minor point the place is perfect.

I stayed at the Lakes for 5 nights in June 2004. It is wonderful hotel. I had a two bedroom apartment with balcony. It had all the comforts of home, beautifully decorated with new appliances. Property is gated and apartment doors open to inside hallway so it felt very safe. The reception was very helpful with problems I had with the phone initially. There are three beautiful pools. Two have their own white sand beaches. They all have nice clean stainless steel grills for cooking out. The ground are beautifully manicured. The foods available in the store in the reception area are competively priced with the local IGA so buy there unless they don't have something you need. The food in the resturant was good and the lunch have reasonable prices. Close walk to the local botanical gardens and the bus stop. The reception will call you a taxi if you prefer.

We stayed at the Lakes for 4 nights in March (wish we could have stayed 10 more). We rented a 2 BR over looking the pool and it was fantastic. The Au$175/night was the best value on our Aussie vacation; if we paid US$175 it would have been a great deal. The check in lobby was very nice, they had a cooler with ice cream and some other frozen foods; they also had a cooler for chilled drinks including milk for your morning cereal. The water pressure in the room was strong; each room has its own private remote controlled A/C unit. This unit had a large outside sitting area with hefty wooden table and chairs; there was also a ceiling fan and lights in this area. Shutters are also available for this outside area if you want a more private evening.

We saw three pools when we were there; they each had a different shape and water feature. Two of the pools even had an area with a sandy bottom.

The only drawback was the *hotel* style phone system and charges. Other than that, I would not hesitate one bit to stay here in the future!

There are so many wonderful things to say about this resort, one barely knows where to begin. The staff that welcomed us were courteous, friendly, professional, helpful and any other term you could use to describe exceptional service. The grounds were spectacular!!! You feel as if you are entering a quiet little jungle city when you pass through the front gate. The glistening fountain, well manicured lawns, and the pristine lagoon take your breath away. The apartment we stayed in was immense. The beds were very comfortable. The views of the mountains from the balcony were incredible. A short walk to the back gate takes you to the pickup point for all the tours of the surronding areas. The public transportation system is very dependable. The times we utilized taxis, I doubt we waited more than five minutes from the time we called until it arrived. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer.

I went to the Lakes for my honeymoon for a relaxing break for 22 nights in paradise, and paradise is what I got. The pool areas and landscape were fantastic. It was clean and even though it was a little way from the centre of town it was worth it. The staff were always polite and helpful. The restaurant also gave good service and the food was fantastic. This will be one of them holidays which will stick in my memory for ever.

You'l love it too! Apartments were well appointed, very clean, spacious. Grounds and landscaping were well done. Pools and BBQ areas were located where needed. One word of advice if your apartment is not being serviced daily - you'll need to remember to ask for more body soap, tissue paper, dish detergent, etc. (all your consumables). Management is a little conservative in providing these items.

We stayed at the Lakes in August 2002 for one week. The quality of the accommodation was higher than anything you can find in the UK, especially at that price range. We had a 2 bedroom self-contained apartment which was very spacious, clean and wonderfully presented. We also enjoyed the facilities such as the sites numerous pools and lovely surroundings. We hope to come and visit again!

We stayed for two nights at the Lakes in Cairns in November and it was an excellent place for a heap of reasons. For those wanting a high quality, spacious, self contained, restful place with great swimming pools we would highly recommend this place. Its a bit out of the full on centre of Cairns which is nice as the holiday was all that much more restful.
