    ... is a fortress with numerous rooms and even stairways that allow you to climb 3 stories high. I was enamoured with the cement filled tires set with pliers, wrenches and other old hand tools. This is a real must-see.

    ... at "Threadgills" for dinner. The namesake of this establishment mentored Janis Joplin once upon a time. There are photos, lots of them. Gram Parsons is there, Gerry Garcia, Frank Zappa was a regular also. He liked the Mississippi catfish, so on his recommendation I gave it a whirl. For a bottom feeder, done Cajun style, that was a tasty dish to exit Austin with.

    ... area for a drink and possibly a bite to eat. After a few stops in some cool shops along Congress we decided to embibe at Snack Bar. Snack Bar was an old 60s dinner/lounge style establishment. We ordered a round, sat on the couch and took full advantage of their free Wi-Fi. From there we hit up the food truck The Flying Carpet.     ... see the Capital State Building. On our way there we stopped to take some pictures with a giant colourful guitar and got talking to a girl who was moving to Belfast the following week to go to Queens University.

    Dusk was starting to set in and so we had to rush back to the Congress Bridge to see the Bats. It is estimated that 1.5million bats live under the bridge and they all come out at dusk to feed. Was a pretty cool sight and a nice ending to our time in Austin.
