    ... and clean and aquamarine blue and being well traversed by kayakers and paddle boarders all day every day. The zenith of the experience is Barton Springs pool which is sourced by underground springs with icy cold water and surrounded by pecan trees that provide welcome respite from the merciless Texan summer sun. I dismissed the idea of combatting the weekend crowds and queues but spent a blissful Monday morning there people and bird watching in between refreshing dips.

    ... to the Jackalope for their Wednesday BOGO free burger night only to discover that the menu changes once SXSW rolls around so even though it was the week before they had already rolled out the special menu and BOGO burgers were not included. The burger we got was still delicious, I thought it definitely deserved its Best of Austin awards, perfectly seasoned and cooked to a medium well with homemade dressing and flavorful veggies.     ... eucalyptus, black Angus cattle instead of Hereford, all wood fences instead of 7 strands of wire.

    Lunch was at a Texas Bar B Cue joint in Palestine. I was drawn to it by the large number of cars outside. The sandwich was delicious. Seems like everyone in town showed up for takeout or a meal. The owner's best friend (who had served in the Army then come home to work with his buddy) said it had been going for thirty years.

    I ran by the Radisson where Kara and I stayed on her first trip to
    Austin for the Irons wedding. This was a huge event as I was deciding
    between Maryland and Texas for business school and Kara's feel on Austin
