    ... of assistance - hospitality, storage space, moral support - it was certainly appreciated by us both.

    It seems like ages since we posted our first entry, primarily to test that the site worked, and we knew how to load photos etc - so it's exciting to actually be writing the first 'road entry', and to be underway. You'll notice we waited a few days, to ensure no more false starts!

    ... a million bats fly out into the evening. After a while though they just started pooping all over the place, and it kind of lost its appeal. Then we trekked to the other side of town to try one of the most famous ice cream places in the US: Amy's. We waited in a pretty long line, but they had exciting flavors (I got Mexican Vanilla, worth it). Then we Ubered back to the hotel, driven by a lovely man with the prime example of Southern manners, and hit the hay! ...

    ... I had a list of places I wanted to get through) and last but certainly not least Franklin’s BBQ.
    Franklin’s deserves it’s own special recognition. From everything I have read and everything that people have told me, Franklin’s is the best BBQ you can get. The brisket was best described to me as smoked meat flavored butter. With a description like that and an average wait of three hours standing in line, there was a lot of hype. ...

    Saturday morning we are brought to a couchsurfing meet up at a brewery open day. A group of CS hosts from Austin were meeting up here and hanging out for a while - 10$ for a pitcher and you can refill it 3 times. Here we met some cool lads who advised us on all the cool things to do in town and told us we could stay with them no hassle if we wanted too.

    ... a few shops and came out with some sweet postcards. Late in the afternoon, we headed to the hotel to rest up and make some dinner. Our legs and backs were getting pretty sore after touring New Orleans and Austin.
