Travel Blogs from Ithaca
... get to see my new Cornell friend, Kate, often! When we landed in JFK, everyone said their goodbyes and parted ways. After giving a hug to my professor, I had to move quickly from the international terminal to the JetBlue terminal to get my flight to Syracuse. I was greeted in Syracuse with a warm welcome from both Mom and Dad - such a treat! After a short drive home, I was finally able to get some much needed ...

So, voila! Here is my travel blog, which I hope you all enjoy with me. And yes, I do realize that voila is a French term- cut me some slack, I'm sure I will learn some Italian soon!
Now just wish me luck fitting everything I own in this suitcase which has to be under an absurdly low 50lb weight limit....
... a lovely Inn, the owner Lynette suggested we go to an ice hockey game this evening, she organised tickets for us so we're off to see Cornell vs some other team, we have to shout 'go the reds' apparently. Had a tasty lunch at the famous Moosewood restaurant, couldn't resist buying a Cookbook of ...
... into Canada and managed to score one of the good rooms with a massive spa bath. Dinner was at a great Italian restaurant, ( have I mentioned yet how huge all the servings are over here?? we end up stuffed and still leaving heaps behind!! ) and then we hit the streets of Niagara Falls. Given its a massive tourist destination it shouldn't of surprised us that downtown Niagara is a bit like a theme park, all neon lights and rides and haunted houses etc.. It was ...
Today I woke up excited at the thought that I was going to the historic circuit of Watkins glen and drive the track that the some of the greatest formula one drivers have driven. The likes of James Hunt, Jackie Stewart and Graham Hill have all raced here in the 60's and 70's. So we leave Ithaca and travel the 20 odd miles to the track and pull to the gates of the track and this guy comes out and says "sorry, ...

Historical Traveler Reviews La Tourelle Resort & Spa Ithaca
Good choice-You won't be disappointed!
Very clean, well appointed rooms. Friendly staff. The A/C units are have above average noise. No hair dryer in room. La Tourelle is in the process of adding a large, new wing. The construction was not a problem and the new rooms should be very nice.
While I was less than super-impressed with the town of Ithaca itself, this inn was clean, comfortable, and quiet, with spacious rooms and country ambience, near outstanding state parks. For those who don't care much for B&Bs or chain motels. Only real downside: No breakfast! Free internet in lobby. A few easy miles from downtown (though because of one-way roads you may need to take a slightly different route returning, so check before you leave).
A nice place to begin a trip to the Finger Lakes.
They also appear to be just beginning to offer packages of land and water outdoor activities, so inquire if you're interested.
A Peaceful Get-away
La Tourelle is a paeceful get-away...laid back but with all the amenities that one expects whether on business or a mini vacation. Loaded with atmosphere and not far from many attractions that are in the neighborhood.
Not too large allowing one to have personalized service and get to know the employees. Large accomodations and with a bed to write home about.
A comfortable "home away from home" where one can energize themselves
and escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Wish that I could spend more time there.
A Contented Guest
A Hotel with Class
The La Tourelle is a hotel with class. My wife and I had a very pleasent and relaxing stay at this hotel. The staff at the La Tourelle are wonderful and do every thing to make you like your not at home. I am recomending to anyone that is visiting Ithaca to stay at the La tourelle, it will not be a disapointment.
Best Place to stay
The LaTourelle has a very relaxing atmosphere. The staff is very accomodating and helpful. Views from the property are fantastic. Close to everything but far enough away for quiet retreat.
Spacious and comfortable rooms.
I would highly recommend to anyone wishing to visit the area.
We had a great time. You couldn't ask for more.
We spent a weekend at the La Tourelle Inn, we had a wonderful time. We had a beautiful room and very spacious. The veiws from there are absolutely wonderful, it is a very tranquil place. Not far from the waterfalls, which is also a beautiful part of nature. The staff of the hotel were very polite and were very helpful. We had a great time..... if your looking for a get away, try the La Tourelle for a very relaxing and enjoyable time.
A Great Place to Stay
I was amazed. I was weary when I saw the construction but it was all for naught. I never heard the construction going on at any time during my stay and I was in a room near where the addition was being built. From the personal greeting when we walked in the door to the spacious room, the hotel and the staff were a delight. The King size beds with the feather bed mattress were heaven. I never slept so well in a hotel before. The fire in the fireplace every evening was a welcome every evening sitting around chatting with friends.
Home away from Home
When traveling to Ithaca to visit our son at Ithaca College, we always stay at La Tourelle - its cozy, clean and very comfortable. The rooms have comfortable featherbeds and back up to a beautiful state park. The rates are reasonable unless its Parent's Weekend or Graduation weekend. The inn is ideally located close to Ithaca College.
Glad we found this place!
What a beautiful place. From the minute we entered the lobby, we knew we were in for a treat and not just a typical hotel. We had a lovely, spacious room with a king sized bed. Loved the featherbed! The staff was wonderful and very friendly. We will be back.
Great place to stay in a great town
Great place - Great staff. The charm of the Inn setting is wonderful.
The grounds are beautiful - if you like to see deer grazing on the yard. Rooms are very nice, comfortable and ALWAYS FRESH>but the best deal of the stay is the staff. They go out of their way to make you stay pleasurable.
