... the hotel, watched the movie (quite funny) and headed to bed early again in anticipation of Torrey and Mom's early arrival.
Just as we had expected, Mom and Torrey arrived at the hotel shortly after 9am and after they took a brief nap we headed out for the day to see the Alhambra. Unfortunately it rained most of the morning and afternoon but regardless the visit to the historic site was still fun (although quite wet). It ended up talking over an hour to figure out ...

... was perched almost on the top of the mountain. Upon arriving in Frigiliana by bus, we had to hike through the entire village and then take another 600 steps up the steep side of the mountain. It afforded us beautiful views, incredible peace and quiet, and plenty of exercise. Avocado, olive, lemon, and orange trees surrounded the area. It was a wonderful place to rest and relax during Thanksgiving week.

After a 6 hour drive, (we´ve now covered around 1,600miles since leaving Bmth ) we enter Granada just b4 dark. Granada is the gateway to the Sierra Nevada, and our intention is to stay 2nights, mainly so we can spend one day in the Alhambra. We pitch our tent just b4 dark, the campsite conveniently located 5km outside Granada. We immediately notice a sharp (can see our breath!) drop in temperature, so after a camp meal and a couple of ...
... quaint town of Berchules, where the horses were stabled and we were to spend the night in a wonderfully authentic family run hotel. This day had taught me an awful lot about both myself and nature, I wouldn't have missed it for the world, and I will remember it for the rest of my life. I feel hugely privileged for being able to enjoy this magical experience courtesy of http://www.equestrian-escapes.com/.
Andalucia, Spain and Canary Islands richardmarkThis was a good idea when it started! Spanish highways are well-constructed and signed; that´s a good thing. We are thankful for the infusion of money from the E.U. Today we got on the road in our great little red SEAT (pronounced see-ott) and headed southeast toward Granada. On the way, we stopped in Baeza for a 1:30 lunch reservation at Restaurante Juanito, a local favorite made obvious as the elegant dining room fills up ...
Granada, Spain sueschubert... We figure we'll finish them off easily. We take a large cup to-go of the chocolate to share, a double espresso, and a hot tea....all for 5 euro. Ashleigh isn't just skipping down the street.....she's leaping. Probably a sugar high, and I consider having her drive the 2 hours back to Marbella at 10 pm.. We leave Granada with a universal impression that we'd like to come back.
Granada, Spain and Canary Islands mauro08... night before, "Granada Café". It is really cute and I feel we're going to become regulars there. The waiter that we had the night before said "hola" to us. Yesterday, he kept making jokes with Claudia, who can speak like perfect Spanish. "Give us one second" "Uno?", and then laughed at himself. We stayed there for quite a while enjoying our tapas (the same tuna sandwiches as the night before and then cute little ham and ...
Granada, Spain anniemac7... street was lined with houses that were so quaint and charming. The street dumped us right into the square our pension over looks. It was a surprisingly pleasant walk back into town after being turned away at the fortress. We decided to explore a little more of the other side of town after our walk. This was more of the shopping area, so we stopped in a clothing shop to check out the fashion in Spain. All I can say is, qua? Very weird clothing ...
Granada, Spain tmcclurg... to bed early (for Spain) at 11PM and woke up at 4PM today feeling like I had a super hangover from hell (not having touched a drop) I have been resting and trying to recover all day. I think it was either altitude sickness, if that´s possible, or dehydration or the combination. Anyway it was a whole different world up there and strikingly vast and beautiful. An experience of a lifetime and worth it no ...
