... below 3,000 ft.). In 2013 a flash flood exposed heavy metals from an old mine so a lot of this area was closed to us frail humans. I was limited to driving across the desert. Not much of interest except for a large area of Cholla cacti. Ugly suckers, but I found them to be strangely attractive. Moving into the western portion it becomes the Mojave Desert ( above 3,000 ft.). Much better. Most ...

Pretty much our whole time in the USA has been hanging out with OAPs. Workers only get 2 weeks holiday per year so it seems like its only when they retire that they get to go anywhere! She laughed when I said we'd been in the pool as apparently the locals are covering theirs up now for ...

... first time we had a civilised discussion about politics even though we all had different opinions....looking back maybe it was the medical marijuana! It was really easy to talk to our new friends and it felt like we had known them for years. They shared their food and drink with us and we shared our solar shower! One thing to mention, the Californian people are beautiful. The festival was full of young, slim well dressed people.....plenty of eye candy for both ...
