Historical Traveler Reviews La Tourelle Ithaca
Good choice-You won't be disappointed!
Very clean, well appointed rooms. Friendly staff. The A/C units are have above average noise. No hair dryer in room. La Tourelle is in the process of adding a large, new wing. The construction was not a problem and the new rooms should be very nice.
While I was less than super-impressed with the town of Ithaca itself, this inn was clean, comfortable, and quiet, with spacious rooms and country ambience, near outstanding state parks. For those who don't care much for B&Bs or chain motels. Only real downside: No breakfast! Free internet in lobby. A few easy miles from downtown (though because of one-way roads you may need to take a slightly different route returning, so check before you leave).
A nice place to begin a trip to the Finger Lakes.
They also appear to be just beginning to offer packages of land and water outdoor activities, so inquire if you're interested.
A Peaceful Get-away
La Tourelle is a paeceful get-away...laid back but with all the amenities that one expects whether on business or a mini vacation. Loaded with atmosphere and not far from many attractions that are in the neighborhood.
Not too large allowing one to have personalized service and get to know the employees. Large accomodations and with a bed to write home about.
A comfortable "home away from home" where one can energize themselves
and escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Wish that I could spend more time there.

A Hotel with Class
The La Tourelle is a hotel with class. My wife and I had a very pleasent and relaxing stay at this hotel. The staff at the La Tourelle are wonderful and do every thing to make you like your not at home. I am recomending to anyone that is visiting Ithaca to stay at the La tourelle, it will not be a disapointment.
Best Place to stay
The LaTourelle has a very relaxing atmosphere. The staff is very accomodating and helpful. Views from the property are fantastic. Close to everything but far enough away for quiet retreat.
Spacious and comfortable rooms.
I would highly recommend to anyone wishing to visit the area.
We had a great time. You couldn't ask for more.
We spent a weekend at the La Tourelle Inn, we had a wonderful time. We had a beautiful room and very spacious. The veiws from there are absolutely wonderful, it is a very tranquil place. Not far from the waterfalls, which is also a beautiful part of nature. The staff of the hotel were very polite and were very helpful. We had a great time..... if your looking for a get away, try the La Tourelle for a very relaxing and enjoyable time.
A Great Place to Stay
I was amazed. I was weary when I saw the construction but it was all for naught. I never heard the construction going on at any time during my stay and I was in a room near where the addition was being built. From the personal greeting when we walked in the door to the spacious room, the hotel and the staff were a delight. The King size beds with the feather bed mattress were heaven. I never slept so well in a hotel before. The fire in the fireplace every evening was a welcome every evening sitting around chatting with friends.
Home away from Home
When traveling to Ithaca to visit our son at Ithaca College, we always stay at La Tourelle - its cozy, clean and very comfortable. The rooms have comfortable featherbeds and back up to a beautiful state park. The rates are reasonable unless its Parent's Weekend or Graduation weekend. The inn is ideally located close to Ithaca College.
Glad we found this place!
What a beautiful place. From the minute we entered the lobby, we knew we were in for a treat and not just a typical hotel. We had a lovely, spacious room with a king sized bed. Loved the featherbed! The staff was wonderful and very friendly. We will be back.
Great place to stay in a great town
Great place - Great staff. The charm of the Inn setting is wonderful.
The grounds are beautiful - if you like to see deer grazing on the yard. Rooms are very nice, comfortable and ALWAYS FRESH>but the best deal of the stay is the staff. They go out of their way to make you stay pleasurable.

It was a great 2nd day in the finger lakes! We started the morning by going to Watkins Glen State Park, which is right at the base of Seneca Lake. It was a beautiful hike along the waterfalls...we took the gorge trail north and then the Indian trail south. A very hot day, so a hike along the water in the shade was perfect! After the hike was done, we had a picnic lunch at ...
For people who love to see Aeroplane and Gliders Elmira Soaring Museum is a must visit. There are places where visitors can just sit and watch the gliders being towed up in the air, and there is also the possibility to purchase a Glider ride for yourself.
You can look at the pictures attached and see how the tow works and how the glide works.
Most of the people get an airtime of around 15 minutes in the glider. The day we visited, there ...

The south entrance is where the swimming pool is.We had our lunch here, and then started back walking taking the Gorge Trail. We picked up some lunch in Ithaca on our way to Buttermilk Falls State Park. Traffic was pretty heavy at lunch time and we made it to the Lower Park Entrance at Buttermilk at ...
... seems to be the "raison d'etre" of this city. Everything looks a little tired and worn, too. But once we crossed into the state park, my opinion changed drastically. Neat, well cared for, and not terribly crowded on a Thursday afternoon, the Niagara Falls State Park was lovely to stroll around in. Chris had purchased Discovery Passes for us in advance, and we picked these up at the main visitors center. Our passes ...
