Historical Traveler Reviews La Tourelle Ithaca

    Good choice-You won't be disappointed!

    from

Very clean, well appointed rooms. Friendly staff. The A/C units are have above average noise. No hair dryer in room. La Tourelle is in the process of adding a large, new wing. The construction was not a problem and the new rooms should be very nice.

    Nice stay

    from

While I was less than super-impressed with the town of Ithaca itself, this inn was clean, comfortable, and quiet, with spacious rooms and country ambience, near outstanding state parks. For those who don't care much for B&Bs or chain motels. Only real downside: No breakfast! Free internet in lobby. A few easy miles from downtown (though because of one-way roads you may need to take a slightly different route returning, so check before you leave).

A nice place to begin a trip to the Finger Lakes.

They also appear to be just beginning to offer packages of land and water outdoor activities, so inquire if you're interested.

    A Peaceful Get-away

    from

La Tourelle is a paeceful get-away...laid back but with all the amenities that one expects whether on business or a mini vacation. Loaded with atmosphere and not far from many attractions that are in the neighborhood.

Not too large allowing one to have personalized service and get to know the employees. Large accomodations and with a bed to write home about.

A comfortable "home away from home" where one can energize themselves

and escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Wish that I could spend more time there.

    A Contented Guest

    A Hotel with Class

    from

The La Tourelle is a hotel with class. My wife and I had a very pleasent and relaxing stay at this hotel. The staff at the La Tourelle are wonderful and do every thing to make you like your not at home. I am recomending to anyone that is visiting Ithaca to stay at the La tourelle, it will not be a disapointment.

    Best Place to stay

    from

The LaTourelle has a very relaxing atmosphere. The staff is very accomodating and helpful. Views from the property are fantastic. Close to everything but far enough away for quiet retreat.

    Spacious and comfortable rooms.

I would highly recommend to anyone wishing to visit the area.

We had a great time. You couldn't ask for more.

    Beautiful Stay

    from

We spent a weekend at the La Tourelle Inn, we had a wonderful time. We had a beautiful room and very spacious. The veiws from there are absolutely wonderful, it is a very tranquil place. Not far from the waterfalls, which is also a beautiful part of nature. The staff of the hotel were very polite and were very helpful. We had a great time..... if your looking for a get away, try the La Tourelle for a very relaxing and enjoyable time.

    A Great Place to Stay

    from

I was amazed. I was weary when I saw the construction but it was all for naught. I never heard the construction going on at any time during my stay and I was in a room near where the addition was being built. From the personal greeting when we walked in the door to the spacious room, the hotel and the staff were a delight. The King size beds with the feather bed mattress were heaven. I never slept so well in a hotel before. The fire in the fireplace every evening was a welcome every evening sitting around chatting with friends.

    Home away from Home

    from

When traveling to Ithaca to visit our son at Ithaca College, we always stay at La Tourelle - its cozy, clean and very comfortable. The rooms have comfortable featherbeds and back up to a beautiful state park. The rates are reasonable unless its Parent's Weekend or Graduation weekend. The inn is ideally located close to Ithaca College.

    Glad we found this place!

    from

What a beautiful place. From the minute we entered the lobby, we knew we were in for a treat and not just a typical hotel. We had a lovely, spacious room with a king sized bed. Loved the featherbed! The staff was wonderful and very friendly. We will be back.

Great place to stay in a great town

    from

Great place - Great staff. The charm of the Inn setting is wonderful.

The grounds are beautiful - if you like to see deer grazing on the yard. Rooms are very nice, comfortable and ALWAYS FRESH>but the best deal of the stay is the staff. They go out of their way to make you stay pleasurable.

    Watkins Glen

A travel blog entry by matthew-thomas on Jul 28, 2014

Today was pretty relaxing! After a lay in we walked just down the road from our hotel to Watkins Glen which was a pretty nice walk alongside many waterfalls and cascading water. Back at the hotel Zac, Tyler and I spent the afternoon having intellectual conversations and definitely not jumping around the room pretending to ...

    Road trip / Motel

After breakfast we started the drive to Watkins Glen (including a stop for lunch) and arrived at the motel. We are now in our own room which is already messier than the shared room, where we relaxed for a while before dinner and a small walk around some rocks. It was nice to have a relaxing day without our legs dying from ...

... across the road, very quiet and large recreational area with a few small boats. We had stopped much further back at a secluded spot where lake houses lined the lake front.

We have seen a lot of wild deer making the most of the greenery while we have travelled the interstate freeways here. They are a lot smaller than our red deer at home. Have also seen a few raccoons on the roadside, thought they would ...

We made it. This place is pretty cool. We only did about a third of what's here and we will have to come back. This gorge has been created over hundreds of years of erosion and is really worth the time. Need to plan for a full to 3/4 day to take all this in.

... just a memory that something happened there!

Driving along I also noticed that birds were nesting in the top of high tension poles. The poles in question were a fabricated truss style with an open box at the top, this providing an ideal starting place for the birds to work with.

Oswego provided some more interest. This seems to be a thriving town and it has a canal built into the river inlet from the lake. The town is ...
