      ... clean and seems much more upscale with many shops selling clothing, jewelry, books etc. There are many beautiful white sand beaches very close to the city center with all sorts of water activities available on them. We walked for about 2 hours and then as the day was getting hotter we decided to go back to the ship. Noumea, the capital of New Caledonia, was really a very pleasant surprise.
