Historical Traveler Reviews Komaneka Tanggayuda Ubud
Wonderful sancutuary !
when our car was driven to the narrow path,
i wondered where we go.....then when the space was open
wide, i found myself standing in peaceful sanctuary.
Staff working there are friendly and kind people but they know
very comfortable distance between guests and them.
they were always there for us guests but never bothered
our privacy.
They all were very well trained professinal people who knows
the meaning of HOSPITALITY.
Without their help, our vacation wouldn't have been that great.
Our villa was very quiet , beautiful and clean, and it was
filled up with smell of tropical flowers.
their restaurant was awsome.
the view.....food, peaceful comfortable quietness......
We enjoyed food as well as the view.
No shopping malls, no restaurants were around.
it's a place where i could totally get relaxed and forget about
the society i belong.
Next time when i go back to Bali, i want to stay there again.
I strongly recommend this hotel to people who are stressed out
and tired of busy life.
Pure endulgence
My partner and I have just spent the most amazing 4 days at Komaneka Resort at Tanggayuda. To wake up in the morning and take a plunge in your own private pool with a view over the valley is the perfect way to start the day.
Surya and his staff go beyond what you would expect to make your stay pefect.
We highly recommend the Red Lantern dinner by the pool.
Komaneka - The Heart and Soul of Bali
My partner Mandy and I first stayed at the Komaneka in 1999.
We found Ubud to be a great option other than the typical
Balinese Beachside Holiday. Ubud is truley the Soul of Bali.
On arrival at the Komaneka we were very impressed by the beautifully manicured gardens and tranquil setting. Despite the fact it is in the centre of Ubud, it has a very peacefull ambience ant the staff are very sincere and friendly from the Management to the very proud gardeners tending to the perfect setting.
We were so impressed we returned the following year to then decide we would be married there in January 2004. We could not have asked for a more beatifull day. Despite the heavey rainfall that afternoon (as it was in the monsoon season) it was acyually quite beautiful to see, coming from a drought stricken Sydney. The hotel now offers great wedding packages, ideal for those wanting an intimate and private wedding ( I would like to post photos soon).
We have since returned another 2 times. This time we also stayed at the sister property Komaneka Tanggayuda, a bit out of town, however again beautifully manicured and very peaceful for those wanting to stay in a beautifull modern yet traditional Bali
experience.
We have vowed always to return to what we consider our Balinese home and regard all staff like family as they are most welcoming when we always return.
In our opinion, we regard the Komaneka properties as the best hotels we have stayed in the world, and I have travelled far and often. It is very good value and we recommend anyone travelling to Bali to experience the unique Blainese experience the Komaneka properties have to offer.
I wish all our friends at the Komaneka every success and are very thankful for such a memorable experience each and every time we stay there.
Regards
John Place and Mandy Dabin
Romantic breeze with stunning views
We went to Ubud just for a couple days before gone to Seminyak, and decided to stay again at Komaneka Tanggayuda. (We stayed there on 2005, had great moments)
We noticed major improvements made to the garden. More exotic tropical plants and a fish pond. Better than its old lawn.
Our room was wonderful. The bed was nicely decorated with heart-shape made by flowers. The bathroom was great, the amenities was luxurious. Also, the interesting one, they provided a bowl of delicious cookies everyday. We really satisfied on the room.
They provide a yoga class, Balinese sculpting class, and Balinese dance class, which all free. We tried the yoga after our touring program.
The staff also very friendly and helpful. They assisted us on selecting places we have to visit while in Ubud and arranged the tour program.
Our second stay here was excellent. I recommend this hotel for your stay while in Ubud.
The place of my healing,
My friend and I spent comfortable time in Tanggayuda.
The place is surrounded naturally and quiet.
At first, we were surprised that there was the staff who spoke Japanese very well.
We stayed the pool villa, the villa was so lovery. We woke in birdsong with the sunrise and the sunset we enjoyed good Balinese foods at Tanggayuda dining.
Tanggayuda is my healing place! And I love Ubud!!
Simple, quaint, yet exotic
The staff definitely possed the typical Balinese standard of service.
Something about the Balinese and the Thai culture, that truly capativates the essence of its surrounding.
Yes, it is Bali and there are numerous beautiful hotels all over.
But what got me the most of this property was the surrounding.
It stays true within its nature and not trying to be or something that's not.
The villa I stayed in was a dream, the view when i woke up in the morning- priceless.
Just heavenly - Bali luxury as it should be
My wife and I stayed at this gorgeous little property for 3 nights and absolutely loved it.
We are regular Bali travellers and on this trip we wanted somewhere a bit more romantic and that really felt like Bali, in easy reach of central Ubud, upper market but friendly. We could not have chosen better.
The location of Komaneka Tanggayuda is a bit out of the township, probably 15 minutes drive, but that was one of the things that made it special really. It is located on the side of a small valley with a river running below, and nothing but green fields on the other side. Waking and looking across the valley with clouds of mist rolling by was just idyllic - you'd think you were a world away.
The resort itself is quite small, so it was much more personal and friendly than some of the large resorts we have stayed in before. To us, meeting the locals is part of what makes Bali unique, and the staff here were wonderful - very personal but also polite and not intrusive at all, yet they were always willing to help with advice or assistance with anything we wanted. I guess that is Bali, but some of the upmarket hotels have lost this feature by training staff to western standards.
The hotel is quite modern design in some aspects, but very traditional in others. It is all quite simple and neutral colouring, but the blend of styles is excellent. There is a somewhat "rustic" touch to certain elements, such as the abstract art around the property and the beautiful antique carved doors and shingled roof of the restaurant, and it all combines perfectly to not only give it a unique feel but ability to also blend well into the small village in which it is located without being obtrusive.
One of the reasons we love Ubud is the restaurants in the town, and getting there from Komaneka Tanggayuda was easy. We had a car and it was an short drive and never busy, but the resort also has a free shuttle service into the heart of Ubud and to their sister resort, Komaneka Resort on Monkey Forest Road.
We really loved the time here and would definately stay at this hotel again. We stayed in a Villa which had its own plunge pool which was gorgeous, but the hotel also has a fabulous main pool overlooking the valley and next to the day spa so I think staying in one of the Suites would be well and truly an adequate indulgence as well.
A Bali experience at your doorstep
My frist trip to Bali, and I was invited into one of the most entrancing hotels I've ever been to.
Reaching Bali, we were whisked away to the hotel. It was a tiring journey and we couldn't wait to unpack our bags and take into the relaxing atmosphere that was Bali, but upon reaching the gateway to the hotel, our presence weren't merely treated as guest but warmly embraced like brothers.
They lead me to the room after our introduction. It had a quaint but authentic feel but the room was nothing short of surprises. Its a room that incorparates the essence of Bali in itself. You would have to be there to see it yourself!
Komaneka also holds many other fantastic suites/ rooms that will be able to cater to each individual but its truly a Bali experience at your doorstep...
My Best Place to Stay in Ubud
Staying in Komaneka Resort at Tanggayuda in the middle of lush vegetation, big and old trees was enchanting. We never rested and relaxed our overwhelmed minds as well as here.
Everything was tremendous and very special. The lobby and the staff are welcoming you with charm, kindness and efficiency.
Location of Komaneka Resort at Tanggayuda is 10 minutes drive from Ubud in almost a jungle. The villas have thatched roofs here called alang alang which actually is a grass. From the lobby you access your villa.
The pool villa 105
We rented a pool villa over viewing a jungle on the other side of a valley slope. All the details are perfect. The immaculate bed sheet are welcoming you with a mixed flowers heart and a red ikat [special Balinese woven cotton] bed runner. The choice of old teak wood furniture gives the room warmth and a feeling of comfort. The efficient cotton mosquito net while preventing you from insect bites brings romance to the night! Try the bathtub with warm bath and flowers. This is a master piece sculpted out of a one single volcano stone. Amazing tremendous work!
The SPA
It is located up the garden, close to the fish pond. The massages enjoyed from skilled and special touch therapists hands are very very relaxing and helped us in our fitness process recovery [there are different sorts of massage, just choose amongst them...]. Also the scent of the massage oil is delicious, it is made from water based oil and a spicy aromatic blend of ginger, cloves, nutmeg,... and flowers too.
The food
One evening we treated ourselves with a Romantic dinner in the pool villa promoted by the hotel. The menu offers: Balinese spring rolls, soup made from the stock of the bebek which is boiled during 12 hours in a special Balinese oven covered by a continuing burning rice skin, and young banana trunk. Then the smoked duck "bebek" is served with Balinese spices wrapped in betel leaves and a pyramid of white rice. For dessert you also get home made Balinese cakes like black rice pudding or jack fruit fritters and dadar [coconut crepe with palm sugar] . The whole meal includes a bottle of local Rose wine which grapes are grown in Buleleng, north of Bali. Good price for good value!
You can also have the normal menu with organic salad, crispy chicken, nasi goreng, mixed sate, lamb and beef,... and many kinds of delicious desserts.
Art and shopping
There is on the spot a painting gallery with paintings for sales [in the rooms as well] chosen by the owner who is an art lover. You can also do some shopping in the Boutique which holds a variety of souvenirs, beautiful collection of batiks, some jewelleries, small handicrafts from Bali and amenities. Enough to bring back home good souvenirs for friends and family.
Shopping in Ubud
Just ask the shuttle to take to Ubud and pick you up for return at any time.
Conclusion
We adored staying in Komaneka Resort at Tanggayuda and left it for another week in Komaneka Resort Monkey Forest Road, in the centre of Ubud. We highly recommend Tanggayuda for a full rest and fitness recovery in this enchanting setting. We shall return for sure.
