      Jungle Trek in Koh Kong

A travel blog entry by niomioconnor on Jul 04, 2014

Today us four and Steven, the guy we were introduced to at dinner last night, all went on a day long tour to Koh Kong's jungle. We were picked up in the morning by the tuk tuk, which took us to a small harbour where we got a boat, which took us across a big lake surrounded by mangroves and other greenery. We then started our trek through the jungle, in the pouring rain, we were soaking wet and crawling, ...

... but I didn't order any bread so I up the order and wait it out. We read for a bit. Head back to the hut so leah can go shop and I can smoke. Then at half 7 out to Q bar to start the eveing with a cheeky sambuca. The shots are 40ml but we have a couple of beers and wines each to wash then down. Q's bar is quite sexy looking but a bit pricey. They're having a special on wine and sambuca though and those are what we're looking for Then onwards to Cats bar ...

With a tipsy grin on my face I simply thought that this has got to be the best toilet ...

... us realise how protected we are in the UK, where Health & Safety would have closed off the whole village long ago.

We did a half day trek in the jungle and saw 2 tarantulas. I now know how to spot their nests. Unfortunately the camera struggled with the humidity so we didn't get a good picture. On our bungalow wall we had a 15 centimetres long stick insect visit for most of one day. He must be the most photographed stick insect ever as he didn't move so provided a perfect subject ...

      ... up north!

We caught a tuk-tuk into Koh San Road, and went straight to a travel agent to see if we could get to Ko Chang island on the same day. We could, which was good because we have a week in Bangkok before we go home, and we didn't really want to stay a night there. We wanted to get straight to the beaches!

After having breakfast and wandering around a bit, it was time to jump on another mini-bus for a 6 hour ride to a ferry port, ...
