From there we went to Tacloban which had the greatest amount of damage and deaths. The pictures here tell the story and this is 1 1/2 years after the event. Another "divine appointment" with a pastor lady going into one of the slum areas on the waterfront on our Sunday morning prayer walk in the communities. This lady would be a great trainer as some others we have met here. Plenty of work and opportunity here that HCDI will follow up ...

    She's like a doll...

Gen had film star qualities on this trip apparently. Adults told their kids to 'be careful with her as she may break'. The kids themselves seems to think she was incapable of walking, climbing or anything in her own and were desperate to help wherever possible. Gen took it largely in her stride only needing the occasional 'quiet time' away from it all. In some ways I think she showed that even though she ...

I want to build this family a new bigger house, where they can eat at a table, cook in a kitchen and sleep in a ventilated space. Anyone going to ...

So one of the reasons for this trip was to give Gen e opportunity to be a 'real! Kid and play in the mud. And she very much achieved this. The river here is the kids playground (HK helicopter mums would have a nervous breakdown). Kids disappear off to play in the mud of the river, then wash afterwards in the river itself. They know where is dangerous and where to avoid in the river. Somehow a hierarchy exists where big look after small. Was brilliant to ...

    Kids enjoying the toys

So how many toys do our kids have? An awful lot more than these kids. Gen and I played after Christmas bringing toys and gifts donated by friends. Was brilliant to see the joy it brought and a reminder that despite how grown up and mature these kids have to be they are still kids and what kid doesn't like a car, or a teddy or a ...
