    ... eyes, has been taking its toll on many of my coworkers, friends, and acquaintences throughout Tacloban. And, the children in Cangumbang are included. So many of the children had sore eyes that I couldn't risk going to the center, if not because I would get it then because I would be contributing to its spread!

    So now I find myself mid-way through the work week. Missing all the kids terribly. Still ...

    ... SOS Children's Village. I was recovering in many ways, culture shock, heat exhaustion, the time change. My life felt like a dream. I was already contemplating leaving and it had been less than 48 hours since I arrived. My heart was aching for something familiar and my mind was overwhelmed with all the new sights and sounds.

    ... find myself worn down by the sun at times, however mid afternoon naps do pair well.

    The center has been "under construction" again, as we finally have the opportunity to paint the interior of the center and finish up the kitchen cabinets thanks to Holy Angels fundraising efforts and a generous donation from Colleen Yunker (who happens to be my third grade teacher).

    From there we went to Tacloban which had the greatest amount of damage and deaths. The pictures here tell the story and this is 1 1/2 years after the event. Another "divine appointment" with a pastor lady going into one of the slum areas on the waterfront on our Sunday morning prayer walk in the communities. This lady would be a great trainer as some others we have met here. Plenty of work and opportunity here that HCDI will follow up ...

    Gen had film star qualities on this trip apparently. Adults told their kids to 'be careful with her as she may break'. The kids themselves seems to think she was incapable of walking, climbing or anything in her own and were desperate to help wherever possible.
