... Kat's lessons in the afternoon and helped out with some maths activities. The kids were surprisingly good at English and maths for kindergarten. My favourite moment was when little Harry ran up to Dave and said 'teacher David, look look!' and then squirted the contents if his milk carton down his jumper. Dave encouraged him to use a straw in future. Hanging out at a Thai school was awesome and the kids were hilarious. We finished the day ...

... to try to indicate what we wanted. Resorting to drawing 2 sets of headphones on a scrap of paper, at one point we had a whole group of stall owners searching through their stock suggesting possible solutions. Even the security guard joined in trying to help by locating an English speaker from a nearby pharmacy to translate. This resulted in sighs of recognition and a disappointed shaking of heads as no one actually had one!

... We are told that the 'master pupeteer' is now 75 years old and we are very lucky to watch his show.
We sit down on benches to watch the show, The pupeteer speaks in Thai so the old lady translates. Basically the puppeteer is behind a screen with a light to create a shadow. He holds up the puppets, making no effort to conceal the sticks he holds to move the puppets around. He puts on different voices for each puppet, making the lady puppets all high-pitched ...

There's also a cave in Thungsong with the reclining Buddha that Gabi and I visited after one of our bike trips to the big park out across the highway. This park is the perfect getaway. It's far away enough so that nobody is there and it's enormous. With a river and the mountain right there, it feels like civilization couldn't ever touch it. So yeah.. I kinda love Thungsong ...

As such 'farang' numbered few and the Thais we met were a little more amused by the novelty of talking to a white boy/a little more interested in our lives etc. Day One: [Rich: We arrived on the 13th of April at around late afternoon/early evening. Our first encounter of somebody in Nakhon was a crazy taxi driver! The first thing we noticed in Nakhon was that the dialect/accent seemed to be slightly different than everywhere else ...
