The Beverly Hills of Bali? Sorry. I disagree.

Leaving Lovina, we headed by bus towards Jimabaran where we encountered a major traffic jamb which delayed our arrival for at least three hours. Bali’s volcanic soil and tropical climate bless the islanders with year-round crops, and we had a chance to learn about one of them this morning when we visited beautiful rice terraces during our …

We awoke the next morning feeling significantly better and excited at the prospect of our new destination. It was sad to be leaving Indonesia after exactly 4 weeks of a mainly positive experience. There is definitely more to see, including the two biggest islands Java and Sumatra, so we’ll have to consider returning one day.

As well as its proximity to the airport, Nay had chosen ...

... PB in the process, where we have been enjoying the pool since. Tonight, our hotel treated us to some live music, which involved a local band playing Bob Marley and UB40. Whilst smoking. Badass. Tomorrow we are planning on changing location again, but we shall save that for the next update (ooh cliffhanger!).

Until next time...

... cremation. A fascinating insight into the culture. After this point, our guide then insisted we head round to the bat cave for a closer look. The natural cave which is the central focus for the temple not only houses the alter but also about 1 million fruit bats and some pythons for good measure. Lots of stinky guano (bat poo) and hundreds of roosting bats in the cave entrance to see. A few more photos snapped as the crowds of worshippers dispersed and ...

    Beautiful Balinese style...poor location

Beautiful hotel grounds with large comfortable rooms. The hotel is built in a traditional Balinese style and fronts the beach. We saw fantastic sunsets from here. The hotel is located on the outskirts of Jimbaran and therefore not within walking distance of the town. While free wifi is available in the lobby and restaurant, it is not available in the rooms. Our biggest complaint is that the air conditioning stopped working around midnight. We were unable to open windows because of Mosquitos so we spend a night roasting in our room.
