We decided to go to the Phillipines after meeting a French couple camping on a beach in Southern Thailand. They are big adventurers who like to scuba dive and snorkel and they said that there are over 7000 islands in the Phillipines and most of them are underdeveloped with beautiful rainforests and coral reefs to explore.

We flew into Cebu in the Phillipines on May 6th. Cebu is one of the oldest cities in ...

There was no straightforward way for us to get from Donsol to Malapascua. The tricycle from Donsol to Pilar was stressful to say the least, as it was a rush against time for us to catch the midday ferry over to Masbate. To add to the equation, as we approached a steep hill, the tricycle driver instructed me, in the sidecar, with all the bags, to move and lean forwards....this did not do the trick however, and Chris had to jump off the back of the bike in order ...

Not where I really want to be but I didn't what to get shut out of a room for a second night. Its not that Calbayog is bad or anything but its not the beach scene I'm looking for. It does have a ocean walk that is being built and maybe someday worth more then just a ...

... in Catbalogan at around 2pm. To put this in perspective our starting point, Marabut, is approximately 120km from Catbalogan...there are no buses or vans directly in between the two towns even though there is a decent coastal road which connects the two....we took (including waiting time and a lazy breakfast) 30 hours to get those 120km and actually travelled more like 300km plus...it's more fun in the Philippines! Da ...

... city of Catbalogan. Catbalogan was 2 hours past Calbayog. The lonely planet book says the roads between the two cities are hell, but they must have been updated because they were not so bad. The vans ran quite smooth and were a lot better than buses. The cities and villages we passed today are still ****** and old, but the island itself is better than where we were previously in South East Luzon. It's a bit more tropical. More palms trees. The weather is getting ...
