... life here with her 3 kids. She used to bake goods and drive the truck around to the various villages close by but she has now chosen to stay put so that she can look after her kids. Its a tough life for the baker during low season (which is apparently 6 months of the year). For example today, we were her only customers and her total intake was BZ$17 (of which BZ$2 were tips). We came back twice today. Round 2 was for snacks for the trip tomorrow.

Had possibly the worst room of the entire trip, next to a dog kennel, with brown décor, a fan that looked and sounded like it was going to fall through the roof (bare in mind I have had a hostel roof actually collapse on me before - http://blog.travelpod.com/travel-blog-e ...
... we had a small nap. Woke, then a bike ride through the whole town ending with a snorkel. My first time and I enjoyed it. I am getting acquainted with my gear as we booked our dive/snorkel trip for next Tuesday. That should be a blast.
We decided that tomorrow will be our Tikal trip. It's a very long drive and we will be up at the crack of dawn. Early bedtime as we'll need the energy.
... pork with rice and broccoli (stop laughing Marie) for supper. It's pitch black here by 6:30... so we sat and ate under our outside patio roof, and mixed more drinks.
While outside, we watched some pelicans fishing, something I've never seen them do like this. Interesting to watch a bird fly along and suddenly stick it's head in the water as the rest of it's body keeps going until it crashes into the water... not very slick, but it seems to ...
... a later reservation with a local airline and in the end only waited about fifteen minutes. Then they rearranged my airport pickup to come ahead of schedule. I am now enjoying a drink and am having lunch while looking at coconut trees and the beach. Total wait for the rescheduled taxi service... probably ten minutes. I would say I had huge success with three flights and a total layover time of less than... well my wait for customs to open ...

Nice room...place felt a little like it is waiting to be sold, which I think it is....would rather stay at Hamanasi.
