Bahamas Bound

A travel blog entry by satisfaction

... on to another spot on the Sea of Abaco. The temperature today is in the 80s, a bit humid, windy and sunny. John has spent some time in the engine room (surprise, surprise), attending to needed maintenance, but we are presently relaxing near the pool under an umbrella soon to partake of an “island concoction.” Loving the fresh fish here, so tonight we will probably try the conch chowder and salad. We could get use to this. . ...

Shark Season - Time to Feed

A travel blog entry by hecqs

Shark mating season is over and they are coming back to be fed at Pier 1 Restaurant here in Freeport, Grand Bahama.

Yes it is, time to be more careful when swimming the waters around the island especially where fish feeding and shark feedings are being held. Sharks are fish, if its splashing and moving maybe it is a food... they bite, they taste if they like, they come back to make another bite or worse, for the ...

Culture shock at home?

A travel blog entry by worldtraveler2

This is a top pick!

... also felt a bit sad and disoriented that our wonderful trip was finally over. I had heard from many travelers coming home from long trip experiences have a bigger shock on their return home that when they first went abroad. I wondered how hard it will be to return to "normal" life or if I wanted to return at all! I know that the time, money and effort we spent on exploring this wonderful world was worth more than I ever thought possible and we would do ...

Spring Beach Party

A travel blog entry by hecqs

The first batch of spring breakers arrived in the island, and they were treated by a good weather, low 70's, sun out in the open, not so cold beach water and cheap beverage, an afternoon of beach party, booty shaking and another nite of boozing til the note is ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Island Seas Resort Freeport

Nice place to stay, beware of timeshare

great place to stay, but beware of buying the timeshare. That is my only regret of my vacation. My payments don't get posted and it is impossible to get customer service from the people in Florida who handle the account.

Leave Your stress @ Home !!!

We just returned & had a wonderful week. The condo was nicely appointed with everything you could possibly need. The staff was very attentive & went out of thier way to make our vacation an enjoyable time. The only downfall is taking taxi's or shuttles to Freeport, it's too far to walk !!

We would go back again !

I Did Not Want To Leave the Island

After having read some of the reviews, I was

skeptical about going. When my wife and I arrived

we wondered what resort did the other people go

to that gave Island Seas Resort a bad rating.

The prices were average for the food at the

resort. Restaurants were not that far away.

Anybody got ride a bus for $1.00. The food on the

Island was great! Everyone needs to go to the

Bahamas before they leave this earth. We are

    going back real soon.

    Nice Relaxing Resort

The resort was very nice, clean, and well kept. The rooms were big and the kitchen was big enough to do all the cooking that you wanted.

The only problems that we had were there was no elevator (only three flights but what the hell, I’m on vacation. Seven days worth of luggage gets heavy) and the pool and Bar were closed.

There are 2 bad reviews about the Resort. I think that they have the wrong Resort. Please make sure that they are talking about the Island Seas Resort and NOT ISLAND RESORT. These are 2 totally different Resort.

Over all I would love to go back there when the pool and bar are open.

If you want service do not go here!

The accomodations are what the resort advertises, but the service is awful. Everyone, from the front desk to the waiters, were very rude and completely unhelpful. The maid accidently threw away our souveniers and I am still fighting with management to reimburse me - weeks later!

I have no idea where those people who wrote the bad reviews stayed, but it was not at the Island Seas Resort. My wife and I just came back from an amazing and pleasant week at this beautiful resort, the staff was more than helpful and they treated us like we owned the place. The room was spacious and beautiful and we had an amazing view of the beach and resort. The food was good but a bit too expensive and the tours were kind of interesting but a week at the resort is satisfying enough. We are already planning a return trip for next summer since we couldn't resist to buy a timeshare. I recommend this place to anyone.

    Lovely resort, Good value

I have traveled to the Bahamas many times, and I have stayed at the Island Seas twice. The units are beautiful, the beach is terrific, the drinks are cold. The only drawback to the property is that you need to take a taxi if you go out at night (the bus stopped running after about 7 p.m.). Overall, where else can you stay at such beautiful new, oceanfront resort at such a good rate (please, tell me and I will go there!).

    Wonderful time, wonderful place

After reading the reviews posted here, I was worried about travelling to this resort. I just returned last night and, quite frankly, wondered if we stayed at the same place. The staff was excellent, and more than helpful. The condo was clean, and anything that was missing or not working properly was quickly fixed. (We had a small flood during the tropical storm, and the staff cleaned it up, and returned several times to make sure that everything was ok). While the restaurant was a little pricey, it was no more than any other restaurant that we visited on the island. The beach is beautiful and clean. I do suggest that if you go, you take along a suitcase full of non-perishable food. The prices at the grocery store were incredible! I would go back in a minute

Not at all like the pictures - Beware!

Terrible, just plain terrible. The room we were placed in was small, dirty, noisy, ill-equiped, musty, mattresses were so old they were flat, and more things didn't work than did. Can't stress enough how unprofessional the staff was. I am still fighting to get charges removed from my credit card that they have yet to explain. Unorganized and overpriced, I can only recommend that you go somewhere else.

My family went to the Island Seas Resort in March 2002. My husband and I along with our two sons were treated terribly from the initial "front desk" experience through to departure. The sad part is that we gave them the benefit of the doubt and after the very hard sell we had to endour, we folded and signed up to buy. Thinking as an owner, we would be treated as such, we were quickly disappointed. The staff is disrespectful to say the least. We were assigned a room that should not have been in rotation. It was a studio, way to small to accomodate our preteen boys. There was a pile of garbage outside our door the entire week. The phone didn't work correctly and I missed ten messages left by my office. The tours were absolutely a waste of time and effort, let alone any money they required. The restaurant onsite was dirty, and the service the atrocious not to mention overpriced. Upon returning home, we reviewed the contract and decided to cancel. We sent notice within the time frame allowed, yet they stalled on our refund for almost two months. Then it was only partial, and we are still trying to get the rest of our deposit back. My experience with Island Seas Resort was and still is horrible. Beware!
