Historical Traveler Reviews Island Seas Resort Freeport

Nice place to stay, beware of timeshare

    from

great place to stay, but beware of buying the timeshare. That is my only regret of my vacation. My payments don't get posted and it is impossible to get customer service from the people in Florida who handle the account.

Leave Your stress @ Home !!!

    from

We just returned & had a wonderful week. The condo was nicely appointed with everything you could possibly need. The staff was very attentive & went out of thier way to make our vacation an enjoyable time. The only downfall is taking taxi's or shuttles to Freeport, it's too far to walk !!

We would go back again !

I Did Not Want To Leave the Island

    from

After having read some of the reviews, I was

skeptical about going. When my wife and I arrived

we wondered what resort did the other people go

to that gave Island Seas Resort a bad rating.

The prices were average for the food at the

resort. Restaurants were not that far away.

Anybody got ride a bus for $1.00. The food on the

Island was great! Everyone needs to go to the

Bahamas before they leave this earth. We are

    going back real soon.

    Nice Relaxing Resort

    from

The resort was very nice, clean, and well kept. The rooms were big and the kitchen was big enough to do all the cooking that you wanted.

The only problems that we had were there was no elevator (only three flights but what the hell, I’m on vacation. Seven days worth of luggage gets heavy) and the pool and Bar were closed.

There are 2 bad reviews about the Resort. I think that they have the wrong Resort. Please make sure that they are talking about the Island Seas Resort and NOT ISLAND RESORT. These are 2 totally different Resort.

Over all I would love to go back there when the pool and bar are open.

If you want service do not go here!

    from

The accomodations are what the resort advertises, but the service is awful. Everyone, from the front desk to the waiters, were very rude and completely unhelpful. The maid accidently threw away our souveniers and I am still fighting with management to reimburse me - weeks later!

    AWESOME

    from

I have no idea where those people who wrote the bad reviews stayed, but it was not at the Island Seas Resort. My wife and I just came back from an amazing and pleasant week at this beautiful resort, the staff was more than helpful and they treated us like we owned the place. The room was spacious and beautiful and we had an amazing view of the beach and resort. The food was good but a bit too expensive and the tours were kind of interesting but a week at the resort is satisfying enough. We are already planning a return trip for next summer since we couldn't resist to buy a timeshare. I recommend this place to anyone.

    Lovely resort, Good value

    from

I have traveled to the Bahamas many times, and I have stayed at the Island Seas twice. The units are beautiful, the beach is terrific, the drinks are cold. The only drawback to the property is that you need to take a taxi if you go out at night (the bus stopped running after about 7 p.m.). Overall, where else can you stay at such beautiful new, oceanfront resort at such a good rate (please, tell me and I will go there!).

I was distressed when I read the other reviews, not just because they were wrong. One person had obviously not stayed at the Island Seas. All units are bright, new full one or two bedroom apartments; no studios, no small, dark, old units. The other person obviously does not know the Bahamas. It is laid back, the people are nice, but it is expensive (so is any major US city, the Caribbean, ...)and the phone service on any Island is subject to interruption. I know nothing about tours; I was asked to take a timeshare tour once, said no thanks, and was not bothered.

I hope that the other respondents don't go back. I will go back, and I don't need crabs like them ruining my vacation!

    Wonderful time, wonderful place

    from

After reading the reviews posted here, I was worried about travelling to this resort. I just returned last night and, quite frankly, wondered if we stayed at the same place. The staff was excellent, and more than helpful. The condo was clean, and anything that was missing or not working properly was quickly fixed. (We had a small flood during the tropical storm, and the staff cleaned it up, and returned several times to make sure that everything was ok). While the restaurant was a little pricey, it was no more than any other restaurant that we visited on the island. The beach is beautiful and clean. I do suggest that if you go, you take along a suitcase full of non-perishable food. The prices at the grocery store were incredible! I would go back in a minute

Not at all like the pictures - Beware!

    from

Terrible, just plain terrible. The room we were placed in was small, dirty, noisy, ill-equiped, musty, mattresses were so old they were flat, and more things didn't work than did. Can't stress enough how unprofessional the staff was. I am still fighting to get charges removed from my credit card that they have yet to explain. Unorganized and overpriced, I can only recommend that you go somewhere else.

    Unscrupulous

    from

My family went to the Island Seas Resort in March 2002. My husband and I along with our two sons were treated terribly from the initial "front desk" experience through to departure. The sad part is that we gave them the benefit of the doubt and after the very hard sell we had to endour, we folded and signed up to buy. Thinking as an owner, we would be treated as such, we were quickly disappointed. The staff is disrespectful to say the least. We were assigned a room that should not have been in rotation. It was a studio, way to small to accomodate our preteen boys. There was a pile of garbage outside our door the entire week. The phone didn't work correctly and I missed ten messages left by my office. The tours were absolutely a waste of time and effort, let alone any money they required. The restaurant onsite was dirty, and the service the atrocious not to mention overpriced. Upon returning home, we reviewed the contract and decided to cancel. We sent notice within the time frame allowed, yet they stalled on our refund for almost two months. Then it was only partial, and we are still trying to get the rest of our deposit back. My experience with Island Seas Resort was and still is horrible. Beware!

Well a very happy day we thought the port looked sunny and bright on the tv in our room. We arrived at the Great Outdoors for breakfast to find high winds and cooler temperatures. We ate out breakfast and watched the pilot and tugs bring in a large freighter loaded with containers. We planned to have a lazy day lying by the pool. We opted to walk around the port shops and look at Del sol ...

Unfortunately, the weather forecast for 2 - 4 foot seas turned out to be 4 – 6 foot seas which we discovered once we were well on our journey. We were able to cross in about 5 hours with no upset except for the cat. I even brought her up topside for a better ride, but she was pretty mad at us for her torment.

... We had to use Vera's google phone for music and an old street map for navigation. Good thing the road wasn't too difficult to follow and my sense of direction was pretty good. Managed to make it to Lucayan Park and back in one piece- without getting lost.
Since Marvin scared me to wits about the Bahamas kidnapping people, we had to roll up our windows and lock our doors every time we drove pass a shady person. Hey, better safe than sorry eh?

... a reefed main and reefed jib and still were doing over 7 knots. All 5 of us pulled into a really protected and scenic anchorage called Crab Cay. Everyone was pretty pooped today. Safely anchored with 9 sailboats and 1 trawler by sundown. Happy hour on "Dibs on This"! Everyone brought an appetizer and drinks. That was our dinner. Steve on "Dibs on This" entertained the harbor with his singing and beautiful guitar playing later in the evening.
