... a shame as we like a drop or two and just paid through the nose in order to drink it. We did not have a decent cup of tea anywhere! The problem is not the tea in China, it's the milk. Hotels only provide creamer and shops only sell long life in small cartons. In 2008 there was a big health scare regarding milk, the authorities say that 300,000 people were affected and 6 babies died. Two people at the centre of the problem were executed, but now almost all milk you can buy to drink ...
... of checking they were staying in the hotel and they in return were quite abrupt with the attendant. We are now winding down and preparing ourselves for the journey home on Monday/Tuesday, by air, we have now had enough of trains. It is our wedding anniversary tomorrow so I don't suppose we will do very much at all so I suspect it will be Sunday before we do our last blog on our thoughts on China and suggestions for anyone thinking of coming here in the near ...

Last night we spotted a book by two Canadians (James Hawkins and Sheila Swanson) called Slow Train to China, they did the same journey as us last year and have turned it into book, a bit strange really, it is hardly adventurous travel, getting on and off scheduled trains and sleeping in nice civilised hotels. They even, like us, booked everything in advance so the risks were minimal. On the other hand perhaps we should do a book, we do have a lot of pictures, so far ...

We did it in flipflops though I recommend to take trainers if you want to avoid complaints of your wife about sore foot soles from the *********e for the whole day.
To take the hike turn left before the orchid valley, there are good visible signs. Dont forget the water, for a change there is not a single shop until the peak!

Good price / value ratio, allright for backpakers if you dont look for a party hostel and just a 10 min walk from the beach. We had a double bed room with own shower and WC, aircon and wifi.

The food was nothing spectacular, but holy smokes, the resort is unbelievable! Absolutely gorgeous, in a breathtaking setting obviously, but also designed and decorated like I've never seen. Definitely worth a visit, would love to stay here at some point!
