Performing an Annual Fire Gear Equipment Check

A travel blog entry by shark37reed on Jul 28, 2014

Pump testing is an essential and vital part of apparatus safety and maintenace and repair. Imagine arriving on the scene regarding a multiple-alarm fire, laying hose (every firefighter`s dream and every engineer`s nightmare), hooking up to the hydrant, and beginning to pump water--merely to have the pump fail after 10 minutes. One question that might be asked at such a season is, could the pump failure have been prevented by once a year pump ...

After another day of mostly driving, we have arrived home safe and sound. What a GREAT trip this was. Lots of super memories of beautiful places and fun times. We wound up driving (I should say Tom wound up driving) a total of 2,923.2 miles through 10 states - South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Illinois and North Carolina. As we drove home we reviewed all we did and voted for our 'bests' and 'worsts'.

... our date in the big blue camp van I didn't know whether to laugh or pretend not to see him and keep driving. His kayak matched almost perfect. I laughed and got in. He feared I may react by leaving. No way. I liked this guy. He made me smile. That's how our story began. A story of two people that found each other, fell in love, and planned to set off on as many adventures as we could afford ...

... Blue Water. It is a beautiful resort. However, the activities are boating, fishing, and, I think, golfing. We are really not into any of that.

We again hopped on our bicycles and rode around the beach and island.
