... was a bit more expensive but we didn't mind. We had to make our way from the west coast of the peninsula to the east coast and catch a ferry to Ko Pha-Ngan. We knew this would take up a good chunk of the day so we scheduled pick up for shortly after 6am.

We had booked the bus to get down to the ferry port at Surat Thani the bus was over an hour late and we soon realised we had messed up as bus after bus to ko samui turned up. ... s nothing else like them. We made our way to elephant airport (a platform to get on the the elephant) and the next thing I know I'm sitting on an elephant! Loved it. They're a lot hairier than I thought and their skin is tough as old boots. He didn't flinch when we were on him, more interested in eating bamboo.
