We got up early and set off to the dive centre where Amanda had to be briefed on what she was doing in the dives. Koh Lipe became the Island where I did my first open water dive. What an experience, the biggest thing I found difficult to realise was that I wasn't snorkelling and could move my head and body around to take in the magnificent scenes that literally engulfed me.
At one stage Valerio (my Italian instructor) squeezed my arm to gain my attention at which point I looked to my left and realised there were schools of fish surrounding me; I hadn't realised as I was too busy ...
... until I tucked it in one night with a swarm of ants under my pillow and cockroach the size of an iphone at the foot of the bed. I keep telling myself it is all part of the fun, but I am not convincing myself.
Don't get me wrong, we LOVED Koh Lipe but it was nothing like we expected. I anticipated a sleepy little beach resort with a few bungalows and bars and restaurants. What I got was a festival like experience on the beach. ...
