Hi all, Well we have just spent a couple of days in Hunter Valley. We are staying at the Hunter valley resort, which is right out in the countryside. Beautiful location, looking over vines. Went on a wine tour yesterday, went to a total of 6 wineries. Tried a total of 40 wines, VERY NICE! Had lunch at a winery call Tempus Two, it is a very modern building and the food was Thai, YUM. The trip from Sydney to here was not to bad, apart from getting lost as soon as we got over the harbour bridge....
Polokbin, Australia arropArrived in Hunter Valley the home of some of the best Australian wines in the world after a 3 hour drive (including getting slightly lost) from Sydney and we checked into the Hunter Valley resort which is a working brewery and vineyard (they make all the Aussie wine for Tesco's in the UK too!!.....). We were both pretty knackered after a long flight with no sleep and the drive from Sydney so after checking the room carefully for giant Huntsmans spiders and the loo for Redback spiders we both ...
SYDNEY, Australia daveandlaineyEarly start today, and we had to lug our cases through the streets of Sydney as our pick-up point was outside another hotel and we didn't want to risk the wrath of a taxi driver at 8am during rush hour on a Monday morning! Nice relaxed bus journey though, and we arrived at our resort about 12-ish and were able to check in right away. We're in a wee log cabin type thing on the edge of a field overlooking mountains and the vineyard is at the other end. It's lovely and quiet and peaceful after t...
Pokolbin, Australia sharonf72If we should ever want to become alcoholics we would spend our time in the Hunter Valley, for I'm sure they have courses (or perhaps a wine tour) to help you in this noble pursuit. Perhaps we don't need the number for alcoholics anonymous just yet, but spending two days in the Hunter Valley has given us an appreciation for the nuances of the different wines in this region. We headed from Tamworth to the Hunter Valley, first stopping to have some scones in Scone. We arrived at the Hunter Valle...

Hang on. How did we end up in France - there's a villa, a pool to ourselves, surrounding vineyards and plenty of sunshine. Not to mention a million places to eat and drink (well about 180) We're staying at the Villa Provence, which although is fairly centrally located for Polkolbin, is still miles from anywhere. It's midweek, so not only is the place deserted but it's less than half the weekend price. A quick eatery review for you: Vittorio's - don't go there, even if ...
Pokolbin, New South Wales, Australia markandel... Caans by the locals here). However, we headed north to the Hunter Valley for some wine tasting. Unfortunately we decided to go a few extra kilometers to Newcastle. 30 extra kilometers took over 2 hours to negotiate and when we pulled into the Hunter Valley i-site we were tired and grumpy. Unfortunately we discovered that our arrival on Thursday with a plan to stay for two days was impacted by the ...

Broke, Australia rootabergerWell I just got back showered up and now I get to make who ever reads this jealous once again. Where better to start then in the beginning... Me and my good mate Matt had been planning this trip for awhile I planned it out so that we could stay in Newcastle at a backpackers and take a (cheaper) wine tour through the hunter valley. So hearing about a crash on the freeway we decided to wait it out and head up when it died down ...
Newcastle, Australia jjediny... Ska? I bought their CD as well. They have a lot of mexican influences, mainly I liked their instrumentals. I wish they had a Live version of their CD, because they were much better live then on the CD. The Herd(4.5) - Awesome band. I had heard on "Only 19" which is their big hit, and has been on the charts for quite some time. But the rest of their show and songs made me like the band even more. I decided to save ...
Sydney, NSW, Australia digitaldoc... not be scorched by the sun. It was weird to see them. And they didn't seem to mind us. We could sit out on the veranda with them about 10 feet away and they wouldn't flinch. Even when you walk up to them they just stand up (they are about 6 feet tall or more when they stand up) and make wierd scary noises that can only mean one thing - feck off or I'll kick your head in with me big feet. Who knew skippy could be so violent? So there was much eating, drinking (wine ...
