Maldives Part II
Day Thirteen
So last night turned out to be as strange as feared. The
'band' were called Mambo and consisted of a keyboard player and a singer who
(a) couldn’t be heard and (b) read the lyrics from a laptop. We had been
prepared for this by a couple of cocktails apiece. Plenty of cheap local
alcohol masked …

Historical Traveler Reviews Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi North Male Atoll
Lohifushi island
Just returned from two weeks at Lohifushi on Nov 1st. The island is beautiful, lush and green, the staff friendly and very helpful. The food was really good. However the resort in general could do with a refurbish as I think it looks and feels old and a bit shabby. The 'gym' is twenty years out of date! The snorkling at the end of a long jetty is okay, plenty of sharks but last year we stayed on Ellaidhoo where the house reef is spectacular and easy to access. The snorkling safari was disappointing. Not always enough wind surfers to go round and we had to book which meant the wind wasn't always right when our time came. I would recommend a trip on a catamaran with a skipper. We saw turtles, dolphins and sailing through the islands in silence was a wonderful experience. All said, we had a wonderful and relaxing time and are looking for the island we will visit next year.
Perfect in every aspect
We spent 2 weeks Sept26-Oct10, 2005. First of all, Lohifushi is ideally located. 25minutes transfer by speed boat so you do not waste any time for transfer to and from the airport. From the moment you exit the arrival lounge, the staff is very well organised and professional, which help when you suffer the 19 hours delay we had. The speed boat is comfortable and you DO NOT get wet at all, whatever is the weather or the sea. After arriving at the resort, we were in our "cottage" 15mn later and heading for our beach just 10 steps away from our patio.
The staff is friendly yet not over friendly. You get a table allocated at the restaurant for all of your stay so you get to keep the same waiter, which is great as he gets to know your needs. The restaurant is open air (no walls). The clientele is varied: Japanese, Spanish, French, Italian, Australian, Russian (a bit too many), English. Many surfers are there as one side of the island is one of the best in the Maldives for surfing. There is daily entertainment at the main bar every evening 9pm til 12am.
Rooms are clean twice a day and every night, our room boy would do some fancy "wrapping" with the bed sheet. One evening we got the surprise to find our bed cover with all kind of flowers. That was so nice and romantic. Yes the room could do with some fresh paint, but they are very clean, well equipped with ceiling fan, air-con, fridge (but no hairdryer). In the center of the island there is a football pitch (original size) from the staff paly everyday at 5pm and guests are welcome to join in. Same about the beach volley, located also in the center of the island. You will be amazed to witness from there bats flying around in day light. My partner and I would not hesitate to return and highly recommend this destination. Good and pleasant holiday guaranteed whatever you are looking for: romantic, sporty, fun....
Paradise
It was my first holiday to the Maldives. It was absolutely fantastic. Beautiful island. Very relaxing, staff are very polite and extreamly helpful. Meals were tasty, good variety. Good diving and snorkeling. Weather was great, warm even when it rained. I look forward to going back some day soon.
Beautiful
I have been twice to the Maldives now, but the second time went with my partner. Lohifushi was perfect we were lucky as we had reasonable weather but unfortunately those guests arriving a few days before we left arrived to rain and cloud due the end of monsoon season.
The sea life was fantastic as ever and Euro Divers exceptional, my partner was able to experience at least 10 Manta Rays at Manta Point being cleaned, unforgettable holiday.
Island and staff fantastic - even got engaged!
Paradise... quite literally
This was my first visit to the Maldives but from the minute my friend and I arrived at Lohifushi, we were in love with the place! The staff are very friendly and most helpful. The beach bungalow we stayed in was perfect and very clean (it was cleaned twice a day!). Food was tasty and there was plenty of choice in dishes. We even had our own private little beach! The only thing that was unimpressive was their night time entertainment. It was quite dull and not at all "entertaining"! Overall, this place definitely gets the thumbs up from me and is great value for money.
Loved the island
Definitely a tropical paradise island. Crystal clear lagoons, very friendly staff, soft white sand, your own private beach, great accommodation, delicious food and so much variety. The diving available is fantastic, especially for beginners, really friendly dive instructors. Would definitely recommend it.
28th november 2004 to 6th december Lohifushi
my wife and i visited what we now call "our island" from the 28th nov 2004 through to our departure on the 5th december 2004 throughout our stay we can honestly say that we were treated with the utmost courtesy respect and above all else friendliness. the one regret we have is that i left my diving qualification log book behind although when i rang before christmas they were most helpfull and were going to make endeavours to post it to me. the dive guides were ever ready to assist tom, hassan, and the other people (please excuse me if i cant remember your names) were nothing short of total professionals thank you for a most fabulous time. WE SHALL RETURN X
Will Return
Stayed at Lhohifushi in December 2004, and during the Tsunami, The island was badly damaged by the waves but the staff did everything possible to make the holiday exceptional. The resort was without power for two days but the management were able to cook every day and meals were still comprehensive, all Bars stayed open for normal service. Our room was badly damaged and we lost a lot of the contents, but this has not put us off returning.
I was not impressed with Male town centre, every where we went people kept inviting everyone to their father or uncles shop, this was a nuisance.
Unfortunately or tour operator Thomson from the United Kingdom evacuated us back to England one week early as they stated the resort didn't have full facilities, we considered this to be poor as the island was nearly back to normal and we had been allocated a replacement room which was more than adequate.
All staff were most helpful and wanted to help in any way.
Loved it there
We have just returned from having nine days on the island, we found it very nice there. The people were very friendley and made us very welcome. Nothing was to much trouble for them i would recommend the island for anyone to go to.
Don't forget your flip flops !!
The staff are polite and the rooms okay but the paths are covered in sand that's full of broken dead coral, so sharp that you have no alternative but to wear something on your feet, unlike other islands i have stayed on where the sand is soft and golden ! The food in the main restaurant is bland and rarely changes from day to day. Not the best island to go snorkelling, sea quite choppy and you have to be a strong swimmer, and on the other side of the island the water is very shallow whether the tide is in or out. Will not return, Reethi Rah was better.
