37 Banhuadon, Nongkae-Takieb Hua Hin, Thailand, 77110
Here we are, at the beach for a couple of days before the big flight home. Pierre agreed to go, despite the extreme heat and the fact that he's simply not a beach person. I had picked the site at Hua Hin for a few reasons:
1- it can easily be reached by train under 4 hours
2- it's considered older (ie. as in an older crowd) and therefore, there are less beer-swigging yahoos, ski-doos, motorboats and by default, should be less noisy
3- it beats the beach at Pattaya, closer to Bangkok ...

... so I read in the guide book that security is really good in this city. The drive took 2.5 hours and I slept most of the way since I got up so early.
The Hyatt is located right on the beach but when we arrived around noon, it was high tide so the ocean came up almost to the pool area (or is it also global warming and the raising sea level?)
... under the red corner. All very jolly.
Loving Hua Hin - long, blonde beach (but not very wide at high tide), fantastic restaurants on piers/jetties over the sea, and an interesting view into the lives of the girlies (who work the girlie bars) from our balcon looking down into their private lives with their kids.
As is only to be expected travelling with Jon and his bl**dy computer, which is too precious to leave unattended in Blighty, the aforementioned laptop fell from his bag onto the road as we were trying to negotiate a taxi to the bus station to come to Hua Hin. Thankfully the laptop survived (unlike the one which suffered a similar fate in a carpark in Coin. Spain - it's monitor died).

... a plane and see where it was heading and whether it was taking off or landing! Clever eh?
We finally arrived at the airport and unloaded. I decided to check in with the girls whilst Paul went off to drop the car at Hertz. Check in went OK, although they held onto Paul’s passport and boarding card as they hadn’t seen him in person. He was gone ages and I was starting to worry. When he finally turned up he was running and looked ...
... and find a place to eat and have our own little celebration. I wanted a burger, since I couldn't grill my own. So we found this Australian place that served burgers and what not. We had a few beers there. After dinner Nate and I both looked at each other and decided that we were just going to go back to the room and chill the rest of the night. We were beat from our travels from Bangkok. What a couple of partiers, I ...

Although there was no sun and the girls were only out in the non-sun for 2 hours they had already been sunburnt a little. Thailand is deceptive that way. Often it can be hazy, seemingly harmless but the UV rays are just as damaging. Anyway we walked to the nearby market and bought the sunscreen ...
Hua Hin, Thailand guykb... have to peel Joan's food as she was a pet and she doesn't know how to get into sweetcorn. she likes shoots in the afternoon. Mel, one of the volunteers left me in the enclosure with Joan locked up in her hut; still scarey tho. Then this afternoon I cleaned out the buckets for the monkeys and Gilbert got me! So much for Marilynn saying he was cute; not that bad really. At 11:30 I was ...

Charities that collect donations for murderous attacks are the worst sort of confidence tricks. Mysterious potholes scatter along the otherwise perfect road. With this road, you can drive to Soi Dao. And if you hit an animal that big, imagine what your car, and yourself, would be like. The deputy governor of Phetchaburi issued a ...
Cha-am, Thailand soidogWe spent 4 days on the island of Ko Samet...doing very little. The beaches were your classic postcard - white sands & clear blue water. We met a another frenchman this time called Stefan from Nice, he speaks good english which I suspect is from summers spent chatting up holiday makers in Nice. He's great fun (a real lads lad) and ...
