A few days ago, I was able to pay my first visit to the nearby orphanage between Consuelo and San Pedro. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I what I discovered was more wonderful than I ever could have imagined. The orphanage is called "Nuestros Pequiños Hermanos," and is one of seven around the country. The second day I take a drive and chance upon a local game of baseball in some village. No one at the ball park speaks english and I had the double handicap of not speaking english and also I do not understand baseball (A capital crime in the DR).
