... enough to tick the box: `went to a nuddist beach´. . . I´m not mental . . and I do not care how much I care.
When we returned Tracy gave us some bad news about our cycling to come. Firstly, there was a heat wave due (last year it hit 57 degrees in land), there is a windy season, and we were about to cross the siera nevada (a massive mountain range). Apparently Spain is the second most mountainous country in Europe. This along side the fact that I had ...
... asking to use there computer in an estate agent (they politely refused) and buying a peach in a supermarket just so we could ask the cashier who ended up drawing us a map on the back of a receipt.
After an amazing meal was cooked for us we drank beers and exchanged travelling stories with Tracy (who had backbacked for 8 years). Then off to bed. . . . in an actual bed. normal = good
... water on his head to cool down Olly offered a kind gesture.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: "Would you like me to hose you down whilst you rub yourself" - Oliver Williams. (I would like to point out that he said this legitimately with no intention of irony.)
Highlight: We saw a shop which sold electronic products called Electrohouse
Lowlight: We slept on a beetle infested mound
... these guys on a corner smoking pot therefore we decided we would ask them for directions. They were so nice they got in their car and asked us to follow them and took us straight to the condo where we were staying. The condo was O.K. but not well maintained, The air condition wasnt working,
a lot of weeds at the entrance and the patio in the back. We had to clear the weeds in the front because there were ...
I had to wean myseft away from the area, and the next day just drove a bit up the coast, past more un(der)-developed beaches at Escullos and El Playazo, and ended up staying in Las Negras, another fishing village which is sleepy by the water-front but with massive construction going on behind it.
Las Negras, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands travellerbruce... is the plummeting pound and consequent increase in the cost of living here. Frankly, if you read or hear of this take it with a huge pinch of salt. Most expats came here because they could live a much better lifestyle than in the UK. The cost of drink, eating out and property, particularly with a strong pound, meant that even a modest income could support a comfortable life. Now that the Pound and ...
Garrucha, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands oldagetraveller... is Brazilian and divorced from Dad (who is half French and half Dutch), I'm English (and regularly confused) whilst the kids normally travel on a French passport... OK!... this time they're travelling on their Brazillian passports (you know, just to keep things simple). Hence having to go to the Brazillian consulate to certify everything in Madrid.... This has been going on for the last 2 weeks. Firstly due to Spanish beurocracy being what it is, and secondly ...
Arboleas, Spain capnconway... 20th century, women here wore veils and they had a sign at the edge of the town reading Mojacar, kingdom of Granada), which accounts for a time warp of about 400 years. Perhaps no one can tell, because no one wears a watch here, and time flees by deceptively fast. You just go to the beach, feel like you just arrived, and all of a sudden it´s evening. It´s sunny here and hot every day, and we haven´t seen a single cloud in the sky since we got here ...
Mojacar, Spain and Canary Islands taviniJetted back to London from Mumbai and then on to Spain for Tania and Ivan's wedding. Was nice to get back to the land of sit down toilets again. Had a great week eating, drinking and being merry. Nice to be able to leave my bag in one place for the week and chill out by the pool or beach each day as well. The wedding itself went off without a hitch. Lovely chapel, beautiful reception and plenety of food and drink. Tania and Ivan are off to the states for the honeymoon...enjoy!
Mojacar, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands briancrooke... up a pill into applesauce, but they have powder!! I have no idea what is going on at home in the news. How did we do in Torino!!? I watched the closing ceremonies of ice skating and I don't think I saw any Americans. I have no idea. Did we do well in anything!? Is Bush still president? I heard Cheney shot someone in the face which then lead to a heart attack (not in Cheney...). Who do we have leading that country. Apparently, the Daily Illini, a ...
