Yaro, Western, Fiji 3110280477... go slow! They even let us trot them back, but mine would only go for short periods of time. There were some little baby foals that followed us along the beach as well... they were adorable, but sometimes jumped from the waves coming in. So, it was a fun day laying on the beach, swimming in the South Pacific, and horseback riding.

For dinner we went to ...
Natandola, Fiji erinandpaul07... a really old Fijian coin covered in barnicles. We jumped back on a big Cataraman and back to Port Denarau for a little look see. The Hard Rock Cafe had a band playing Aussie favourites and No one wanted to leave. The beers were a little more expensive in Port Denarau - $3.00 for a big glass of Fiji Premium (Pure Blonde). When we become billionaires we will come back in our new boat that we will buy! :)

J5
Fiji, Western, Fiji jacksons5... waded out to the coral. The tide was pretty low, so when I started swimming I scratched my stomach over some coral, which I couldn't see due to the churned up water. It really hurt and now I have a strange row of scratches across my tummy. The snorkelling was good with lots of colourful fish different to the ones we saw in Asia, and David saw a stingray. Back on land my stomach looked horrific and was swollen due to the salt water ...
Tavua, Western, Fiji angela_louise... showers. Kinda of a bummer, but it added spice to the adventure!

As we mentioned in our previous posting we had lot's of activities to keep us busy, either snorkling(looked into the scuba but decided to put that on hold cause of the cost and knowing we can get certified here in Australia when things settle down), fishing the bay, playing volleyball on the beach, shell combing, hiking to the top of the island ...
Solevu, Western, Fiji jhinsley... and either snorkeled from the sailboat a bit more or dove off the plank with my new Australian friend Ivan.

We head back to the docks amazed at all the views around us. Trying to compare Fiji to islands that I have been, I have to say it is the best that I have been to. Better than any island in the Caribbean, Bermuda and Maui. I like the slow laid back attitude in Fiji. Their genuine friendliness is so nice. Pricing for cruises are the ...
Denarau Island, Fiji 90daywalkabout... option of one night or four. A lot of people only stay in Uprising because they do a shark feeding dive something that both Sara and John wanted to do but we can do a shark dive in Hawaii. The next morning was very sad because Hayley, Jennifer, Sara, John and myself had all become very close in the short time that we had spent together and had to say goodbye to Sara.

On our way to Volivoli Beach we drove through Fiji’s capital Suva. Before we left for Fiji we were not sure if ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji annemarie.demp... The spot we have picked is called Gotham City due to its high concentration of Batfish, one of our favourites from dive sites in both Thailand and Australia. We suit up and get our gear together and get onto the rickety fishing boat which doubles as dive boat on the little island. Hannah is to be our guide today, a young girl who obviously loves her diving and having just finished a 5 year stint in the Infantry and loves the freedom. We head out to Gotham City is less than ideal ...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji adam_and_kim... look like Two-face from Batman). The crew would let us go back to the boat to get in the shade, because they say they were tidying up. We got treated to an apparently impromptu jamming session using a guitar, numerous items of cutlery, a metal culinder, the scaffolding on the boat and empty plastic bottles (clips to come). This is the first time that we met the two Swedes, Emelie and Sandra and the Irish Nolan sisters.
monuriki, Viti Levu, Fiji danandhat... could be passed again. Kris and I just missed all this, and the weather is better now. It's big news on Fiji though. Some tourists on the outer, smaller islands were stranded with no food or water or transport back to the main island. We heard stories of rich tourists offering "anything" for helicopter transport back to the main island, and they were still put off for four days because of the volume of stranded people, and liminted helicopters. By this part of the blog, my ...
