Small village on the main road but Tucan Hotel set back. Not cheap and only 2 showers/toilets shared between up to 4 people in treehouse, 4 in hammocks, multiple others camping plus 12 people in dorms when fully occupied. Female shower/toilet always full of men as bigger - thankfully came when quiet.
Cocked up the directions to the falls, Cascadas Verde & didn't turn left before hardware store. Ended up crossing the river ...
... of a guy who was coming the opposite direction. So we asked, "Es el marcado de pescado cerca or lejos?" He replied, "el marcado de pescado (laugh) es muy lejos." In other words, "The fish market is far, you crazy girls! Its WAY the hell over there...like another 4K." So, we turned around and returned to Tranquilo empty handed. We had made a big promise to a group of Canadians that we would make fish tacos if they pitched in. We brought ...
Santa Teresa, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica farrahfig... i don't have salt or pepper but i managed to flavor up the beans with vinegar, wine, and lizano salsa. lizano salsa is not a traditional salsa--there are no tomatoes, and basically doesn't resemble typical salsa in any way. it's more of a sauce, supposedly made from vegetables but it doesn't taste like any veggies i've had. i think it's pure MSG, and it's awesome. i'm bringing it home to the states to put on everything. the beans have ...
Santa Teresa, Puntarenas, Costa Rica gocarygoAfter dropping Bev off at the airport we headed straight out of town. Of course this took us a good hour due to traffic and the inability to get proper directions! The map I we had purchased at a hotel the day when we came into the country was supposedly up-to-date, but so far I had counted around 10 mistakes. The San Jose portion was no different. By the time we got out of the city it was around 3 PM so we only had a few hours of daylight left and we still had to go ...

Had to change plans as there was no space at Sirena Ranger Station. Margarita was able to organise alternative route into Corcovado
Got Marvi bus to Sierpe. Stayed in good cabinas and had excellent meal in their restaurant
Hey Update. I'm currently in Uvita Costa Rica at a place called Cascada Verde. This place is pretty awesome in the jungle with a crazy view looking out to the ocean. The people are all so different, each one is so unique. There is this lady from Germany GashaNe who quit her Lawyer job and came here to volunteer and do yoga... she's like 50 and has this funny broken English. I find my self laughing not only at her but with her constantly ...
Uvita, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica carrera2u... a day. its chill. i was a little apprehensive at first just because i really dont speak spanish at all but the majority of the clients speak english anyways. besides the new job and my rapidly improving surfing skills im not really up to much else. oh well our place did get robbed so im now cameraless and ipodless. im pretty upset to no longer have my music but i cant really do much about that now. it sucks but im moving on. gonna focus on surfing instead.
Santa Teresa, Costa Rica emiliea... We decided to walk the 6 km back to town which was great, not only because it was a scenic downhill amble, but also because Libby almost stepped on a severed rooster head that was hanging out in front of a bus stop. Now that was funny. We ate dinner at Liliana's and had a very satisfying green olive pizza. The night was somewhat marred by Ani doing a running header into a chair and developing quite a goose egg on her ...
San Vito, Costa Rica sarah... wrong. The next morning (Monday) we caught the bus to Nicoya (where we checked our email). We caught another bus to a random corner near Puntarenas. Another bus into Puntarenas, another bus to the ferry in Puntarenas, a ferry from Puntarenas to Paquera. Another bus from Paquera to Montezuma which was packed to the gills. We actually stood in the stairwell of the back door while three other guys leaned out the open door hanging on to the railing ...
