... me a present. It was a beautiful hand filed shell necklace which he had fished out of the sea and made for me earlier on. It is beautiful - and it's these little touches where going off the beaten track makes memorable and lasting memories and shows the kindness of the locals when they are not driven by making money and business with foreign tourists.

Next stop - Perhentian Kecil.

... was marked with white stakes (although some parts were very questionable if it was supposed to be the trail or not). We also followed a small creek most of the way, and often had to cross back and forth over it. A cool part was walking through (literally) the creek rocks, till the waterfall that was about an 8 foot drop. We had to use the rope (that was already there), and luckily there was a spot to step down- but it was still 3 big steps down ...
