We drive to Aphrodisias, site of the temple of Aphrodite. The site is beautiful, in the country side with many of the columns still standing, and no crowds. I visited a photographer's shop. He had pictures of some of the statues, and photos of the village that had been on the site. People were living among the ruins. ... It was an important Lycian city in 2nd century B.C. Olympos devoutly worshipped Vulcan, the God of Fire, most likely because of the flames at Chimaera. A couple of lazy days and really enjoying staying our little apartment. The area is mostly residential but lots of little shops, cafes and fast food joints; we think the Turks eat out a lot.
