Historical Traveler Reviews of Hotel Beau Rivage New Hotel Reference Nice

Thank you Tripadvisor!

from birdmancov
After hours of research looking for the perfect hotel we took the the advice from the reviews on this web site. We could not of a chose a better hotel. As soon as you enter the beautifully designed lobby you are greeted with a warm welcome. The rooms are very contempary and have an incredibly relaxed feel to them. The location is perfect for designer shops and bars etc.But the fact the private beach is across the road makes this a winner. The food/drinks are expensive on the sea front but this is the South of France. Don't bother with the breakfast it's a complete rip off and don't take their advice on where to eat as they must have some kind of deal with FLO(RUBBISH).Check out the roof garden at the Boscolo across the road!

More for the business man ??

We stayed at this hotel in July 2004 - a great weekend get-away! Although this hotel is very clean and has certainly be designed with the 'all in' trendy minimilistic look, I cannot help but think it was probably more designed for someone on business, rather than a holiday maker. We booked a room with a Queen size bed and plasma tv - however the room was only just big enough - glad we didn't go for something any smaller !!

The restaurant of this hotel, located on the beach, serves very fine food and was most enjoyable on each occasion we ate there.

Nice is a very nice place to visit - lots to do and a great base to visit places such as St Tropez and Cannes - will be trying to stay in Hotel La Perouse on our next visit though - sorry Beau Rivage !!

Great location

This is a great hotel for the money. I just got back from Nice, and if I ever go back, chances are Ill be staying at The Beau Rivage. The service was great and the beds were very comfortable. Great location for exploring the Old City, which we rarely left. The beach access was wonderful and inexpensive. I cant wait to go back!

Great Hotel

My wife and I stayed here from May 16-19, 2004. Outstanding location, great staff, hotel just putting the finishing touches on an incredible remodel. Room had great french doors overlooking street, would go back here in a minute, romantic!

Remodeled Hotel, that is very contempory and sassy!

We stayed at this hote during March 28th week. Now this is a 4star hotel in the making. Why? Well, their staff is still learning to become a four star hotel, they need a few more fine tunings. But for $250-300bux+ a night you better receive that type of service. When we booked this hotel they did not tell us that the hotel was completed in remodeling. In fact there was an entire floor that was not completed. They actually booked rooms (discounted though), and placed guests like it was an unfinished apartment complex without carpet or door fixtures. At my point, in my trip I had been in Europe for 2 weeks now, the room that they gave us had a defective bathtub drainage....the room was brand new by the way. My financee went to take a bath except the drainer handle was broken (you twist these like a gas cap)....we called front desk, and told them what happen...being a little frustrated from the previous 2 hotels with this problem I was very demanding since this was my honeymoon...at first the bellboy answered and told me there was nothing he could do..I said "what" ,no thats not what I want to hear" and you can only imagine how my new wife was going to react to me, so I told him i wanted to speak to a manager...few minutes later I walked down to front desk, and met the manager, and out came 4star service...they upgraded us to a huge suite..however there was no carpet in the hallway. Yes, the room looked amazing with flatscreens and lots of switches, but our TV was not hooked up. Leave it to technological advancements...I called her back up and explained my situation. I know we are not suppose to be watching TV on our honeymoon, but for a four star hotel with no carpet in the hallway, there's no execuse especially if you have a flat TV in your room..a guy has to be a guy! ..... her response to the TV was......a bottle champagne delivered by the bellboy who apologized for trying to do a manager's job, which I understood fairly, and a apology note by the manager with a complimentary breakfast for two. Now thats what I call 4 star service for problems that should not occur in a 4 star hotel. The Beau Rivage will be an excellent hotel for tourists to experience the French Riveria. I would recommend the Beau Rivage to my friends and familiy.

A Wonderful Hotel in a Great Location

The Hotel Beau Rivage is a charming modern hotel in a great location of Nice. The hotel is situated across the street from the beach and a 2 minute walk to the old town, has to be in one of the best locations in the city for seeing the sights. The hotel was recently renovated and if you like an ultra modern look, the hotel is a great choice. The lobby of the hotel is very attractive with its use of dark woods and light marble. The rooms are a nice size and offer great features such as a 22 inch plasma television on the wall, large floor to ceiling window overlooking a garden area and motorized window blinds controlled from the bed. The bathroom was a nice size also and offered great amenities such as a towel warmer and a shower with multiple spray settings. The room and bathroom are very clean and well maintained. I would have rated the hotel excellent but some of the construction dust that was still visible in some areas of the room and the temporary malfunctions of the television and phone made me feel like the hotel was not really ready to open. However, with any new hotel, there are going to be slight problems until all of the systems are fully functional and the staff did resolve the issues in a professional and timely manner. I spent a great deal of time searching the internet for hotels for my holiday to Paris and Nice because I am very particular about hotels. I was very pleased with my choice of the Hotel Beau Rivage and I will definitely stay there again on my next trip to Nice. Unless you are accustom to $500 and $600 dollar a night hotel rooms, you will definitely be impressed with the Hotel Beau Rivage and be glad you choose the hotel for your stay.

Highly recommended

Following a LOT of research, I chose the Beau Rivage as it seemed to get much better reviews than other hotels in Nice. And what a great choice it turned out to be! In a superb location in the old town, 2 minutes walk from the lovely marketplace & even less to the sea. There were beautiful restaurants & shops all around, and it had been recently refurbished, in a lovely cool modern style. As we were staying a week, I booked a deluxe room, mainly because it was bigger than the standard. It was excellent - overlooking the garden, it had a huge bed, a flat sceen TV & a gorgeous bathroom with lots of mirrors, marble & chrome. The staff were very polite & friendly, & were happy to bring up anything we needed. We had the buffet breakfast in the hotel twice. Although at 18 Euros it was more expensive than going to a cafe, it was delicious and, of course, much bigger!

Nice is a wonderful place to visit - the food is fantastic, the Nicois people are laid-back & friendly, & you can take some great day trips from the bus station, less than 10 minutes from the hotel. Just wondering how soon I can go back!

Great service

Stayed at the Beau Rivage Oct 03, late booking as a suprise holiday for my girlfriends 40th bithday. Asked for some flowers to be left in our room as a suprise for my girlfriens which was no problem for the staff there. Everyone was very helpful with directions around town, bus routes etc. Nice is a great place, and well worth a visit. Will definately go back again. By the way, it was after reading a review on this site that made my mind up to book this hotel.

Superb Quality Customer Service*****Staff to Room

In celebration of my husband's 50th birthday, I surprised him with a lovely trip to Nice for 6 days and he was really thrilled. Wanting his birthday to be perfect, I looked high and low for the "good, bad and the ugly" on hotel reviews and decided after reading dozens of travel books, information on the internet's travel sites and recommendations from travel agents, I chose the Beau Rivage. It was the BEST choice to stay there because from the moment we checked in and up to 6 days later when we checked out to catch a terrible early morning red eye plane at 4:00AM, the staff was SUPERB and served us hot coffee as a kind gesture as we waited for our taxi to arrive. Gil, the hotel manager was wonderful in every way and instrumental in making my husband feel extremely special on his birthday and I extend my sincerest thanks to him. He tended to our needs attentively and Alain was also wonderful as well as the rest of the staff. My husband was delightfully surprised to find chilled white provence wine, a basket of decorative marzipan, a signed print of Beau Rivage and two white fluffy bathrobes awaiting for us in our room. We had a garden view which was very quiet and the air conditioning was very good and not too strong. Beau Rivage private beach is very clean and soothing (worth the 11euros if you want a lounge mattress, towels, etc.) and I recommend the "Pink Bubble" drink for anyone who really wants to take in the ambience with the soft sounds of the waves. It was amazing to us that for a hotel which has 118 rooms, we received such remarkable attentiveness as though we were the only ones there. The staff was always gracious in their mannerism with a personal touch which means so much to us and it is so rare to find these days in the hotel industry. Location is perfect to stroll throughout "old Nice" and the Promenade d'anglais-walking distance to just about everywhere. Our tours were also perfectly arranged by them to visit beautiful Mougin, Eze, Cannes, and Monarco. We HIGHLY recommend Beau Rivage Hotel to all who value quality in hotel staff and affordable comforts instead of spending more money solely due to the architectural grandeur of Negresco type hotels. Beau Rivage is THE BEST choice. Breakfast is excellent and so was room service for dining in if you desire - exquisite dinner was served. We wish you bon voyage over there! Merci to the Beau Rivage staff! We will most definitely return soon!*****

Beau Rivage

Every year we try to make it to Nice for a little getaway. We live in Las Vegas, and we like to get away from the desert once in a while. Beau Rivage is a great hotel with teriffic restaurant right on the plage (beach). I highly recommend it.
