    • Lastly, being free to do as I please. Look I know one day being able to freely travel the world will end. But until then I plan to enjoy this moment in my life. Waking up and at the spur of a moment deciding I needed peace and quiet is how I ended up in Perugia,Italy. One of the highlights of the trip so far was our morning ballooning with Chris and Claire from "Ballooning in Tuscany". We had an early start (5am) to be down at the launch field for 5.40am and then we took off at about 6.30-6.45am on a beautifully sunny morning with fantastic views over the Tuscan countryside - the pictures hopefully do it more justice than any description I can ...

The route took us on the Autostrad all the way down, straight down from the Alps to Genoa cutting through the tops of the Tuscan hills. Just as we thought we were finished with tunnels we were dropping right down to the coast where the steep mountains hit the sea and Italian towns blossom in the gaps in between. The A12 twists and turns, climbs through tunnels and just goes on forever. The tunnels, traffic and Italian driving was a huge test ...

... when paddling (well it was only about a foot and very thin but still a snake!). We did manage to go to the local lakeside town of Passignano and have a walk around which was quite pleasant. It was not very crowded as the season has finished, but you could see they were geared up to have a lot of visitors.

We also manged a little road trip in between the showers to go to both Assisi and Perugia. Assisi ...
