      ... me start at the beginning. It's the run up to Christmas. And before I forget, can I wish every one a very Happy, Healthy, and prosperous New Year.       ... received the invitation to join them all early one morning.
      Apparently the governor was also going to be there, so not to miss an opportunity, polished up our shoes and got out the glad rags. The location was the ancient (well relatively speaking old for here) Fort Amsterdam. One of the original fortifications built by the Dutch to defend the island a few hundred years ago. Now however, very little of the original structure still remains

      ... drove to and through a few of the key Dutch areas and had important sites pointed out to us (since we docked on the Dutch side). Specific highlights included The Great Salt Pond, Orient Bay, the village of Grand Case, a Rum Factory and Fort Louis. Our tour guide also discussed the island’s population makeup, land ownership, employment, education, taxes, medical care, child and elderly care, and a host of other topics; very informative.

      ... the Maitre D! Giant prawns for main and for a change half decent soup. The girls Heaven Salad again defies its name, admittedly Salad from Hell doesn't probably sell. Up on the aft deck we watch a fantastic film show advertised as Moonshine Movie. It is full moon tonight and they show a 45 minute movie of life on the Clipper ships rounding Cape Horn in the 30's narrated by the film maker now in his 90's. we have seen the same movie when sailing around SA on Evohe but great ...

      ... is more about the luxury on board- no cooking, cleaning etc.; no looking for accommodation or a good restaurant or packing, just getting up and enjoying the ships facilities and service.
