Admittedly, Sammy was quite nervous renting a car in Iceland as it would involve driving in a strange country with unknown road conditions and reading street signs in a foreign language with strange characters and way too many consonants smushed together. However, Jarred (savvy as he is) downloaded a neat GPS app that didn't need a cell signal to work, gave driving ...

Making our way back we stopped at the Skogar Folk museum, started by 94 year old man when he was fourteen, and everything has been donated by the locals so there is history abound. It covers everything about Icelandic life with replicas of turf-roofed houses that was home to most and lived in until as late as 1975.

Close by was the so-so impressive Skogafoss, a 62m high waterfall. Down the road was Seljalandsfoss, which was just ...

... get on the ferry which goes from xxx ( near Reykjavik!). So back we went (giving two hitchhiker so lift to Selfoss - they did have to sit with their enormous packs on their laps as we had no room in the boot!) We found a nice cafe in Selfoss where Janet had burger and chips. I had soup and expect that was the more suitable option! We scraped onto the ferry - the last car to get on ( which means there were a few cancellations!). It was a very rough crossing - for 3 ...
