We stayed at this hotel for three nights in the adults only area, which was good as there was a pool bar and no annoying kids disrupting the peace of a pina colada whilst chilling in the pool. The hotel is in a good location if you want something quieter than the hell that is Patong, with a convenient tuktuk to shuttle people up down the rather steep hill that it sits atop. The room was nothing special, but was pleasant, and the staff were very helpful.

stayed for 2 nights in Dec 06.
hotel is on a hill, about 100m distance.
booked the hotel by mistake after reading the reviews on this page. (got mixed up with karon beach resort).
-nice garden and landscapes.
-new and clean rooms.
-good location. near to restaurants and an extremely
nice beach. karon beach is way better than kata beach.
clean sand, small marine fishes, nice waves.
-staff don't speak english well though they attempt to be friendly.
-breakfast was horrible. oily food, stale bread (exposed to flies). my son had runny stool after drinking the juice.
-porters not honest. picked up 2 of my luggage on check out. left 3rd piece behind. dodgy and evasive when i asked him.
(i placed all 3 pieces together. won't miss!)
-shuttle service between hotel and foothill stops at 6pm.
there's a phone at foot hill to request for pickup.
one rainy evening at 6.30pm, i asked to be picked up. front desk answered blankly...no service af!ter 6! told her my situation. had a 1 year old and a 4 year old with me. no help appeared. when the rain stopped, we walked up the hill. drivers/porters were free and joking with one another. tuk tuk shuttles were parked outside.
- gardens smelled of sulphur on the first night. we wondered, did some guest discover a snake???
- the children's playroom was not good. there were only a few pieces of toys: 2 play house, 1 rocking horse, 1 push motorcycle
and 1 push car (those that a toddler can climb in).
the push car had biscuit crumbs in the back compartment (a full biscuit) and no one cleaned up! the staff was friendly but lacked initiative. i had to ask for a paper napkin to clean up the crumbs myself. the entrance to the playroom had ants trail. a few climbed up to my son's feet when he was taking off his sandles. a bite would have been nasty.
my previous experience was at dusit laguna, which had
excellent facilities for kids. fish feeding, video movies, kite
flying, umbrella painting. the toys were plentiful and in good
condition. the staff carried out the activities even if there was
only one child.
horizon karon was NOT.
Great hotel very clean like 5*
This hotel is like 5* all of their rooms are fantastic. We were honeymooners and they placed flower petals on our bed spelling "love" which i thought was a lovely touch ! The rooms electricty is all accessed by a computer like system on the bed side table. This allows you to turn the lights on or off, turn telly on, air conditioning etc - i thought this was pretty cool ! They have a mini bar and the prices arent too bad, they give you two free bottles of water a day. They also give you two beach towels which they change once a day. We were only here 4 nights, which i thought was enough as karon is pretty quiet but its very nice. The main street has a few bars and places to eat and a few shops. The hotel is on a hill but its nothing to walk up and down, its good to exercise !! The reception are only to happy to help with any problem you may have. We used the gym a few times and all equipment is new. The breakfasts were great, plenty choice and very tasty. Great hotel for familys and couples. Quiet area yet peaceful and plenty to do. We enjoyed our stay here.
The Staff are great
We stayed at this hotel for 8 days in October and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a small "hick up" when we arrived, as we had paid for a Sea Facing Room and were put in a Pool View Room. I advised Reception and was told the hotel was full, and there was no Sea Facing Room available. They offered to move us the next day to our requested room. We did move the next day, and we were not too upset ,as we had arrived after dark on the first day.
The staff are very friendly and willing to assist where they could. The Security Guards are great, and salute everytime you walk through the entrance to the resort. The resort is on a hill, and if you do not like climbing stairs this is not the the resort for you. In saying that they do supply a Tuk Tuk that delivers you up and down the hill to the resort.
The resort is away from the rat race of Patong and Karon Beach the beach is very accessible. The water is beautiful. If you want to be slack and not go to the beach there is the resort pool with the pool bar. A great place to run into people, and swap travel stories. When we were there the place was full of fellow Australians. Many a drink was had around the pool.
The breakfast was excellent, and the setting for breakfast was very relaxing overlooking the pool or with sea views. Alas, I cannot say the same for the dinner. The food was ordinary, and the setting was not Asian at all. It was like being in a Sports Bar in Australia. If you want the Asian atmosphere this is not the bar to go to.
If you want food with the Asian feel, there are ample cafes and restaurants just down the hill. All are very reasonably priced. Overall a great resort, but forget the buffet dinner. There is more value for money outside the resort for dinner.
We stayed at this hotel in October, 2006. The hotel is located at the top of a hill, which really isn't that big. We only used the hotel tuk tuk once or twice to go to the bottom. I think walking up and down it was healthier. I wouldn't recommend it for older people though or people with heart conditions. You should find that phone, which is in a white box next to these guys that sit there with motorbikes around them. They looked harmless.
The hotel is pretty nice as it is newish and in a safer location as well. The coconut trees make a really nice touch but the construction work does not. It was quite hard to relax in the sontaya spa with the saws going. So I wouldn't go to the spa if they are still there. Cheaper elsewhere anyway. There are two big swimming pools that are pretty clean, although the pool bar next to it doesn't help.
The hotel staff are all nice but some cannot speak english very well. It was hard ordering room service, especially when they rang back four times to try to understand what we wanted. Don't order a banana split, you wont get it the way you want it :). Go to their sister hotel in Patong if you really want one.
The room was pretty good with a balcony and an in room safe to put all your important belongings, like passports. They put out flowers on your bed after they clean it. The bathrooms are clean but when you have a shower the water goes on the sides. There is a mini bar with water that is replaced every day to drink free of charge. Although watch out because they are glass and slippery. I know!
Also don't use the hotel phone to make international calls. Instead buy a thai sim card at a mobile phone shop, which is much cheaper. There is one when you go left down the street and left again to the main road in phuket then right a bit (takes about 20 mins walking). They would know what you want. You can go to a seven-eleven to get recharge cards (make sure you take the booklet as they do not always understand english).
So enjoy the hotel but beware of these few things. It is still really nice compared to the one in Patong. Remember to always bargain at markets.
Great hotel, lovely people
We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights early this month and had a super time. The hotel grounds are gorgeous, full of lovely tropical plants and the pools are great. The gym is also excellent, all equipment is brand new and top quality. The breakfast each morning is full of variety and the only problem is you can't fit enough in! The outdoor setting for breakfast is also lovely. The dinners at night were ok, the quality of the food is very good but the atmosphere is average. They have the same singer each night who gets a bit boring after a while, but it is convenient. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite which was fantastic, the rooms were very clean and the decor modern and tasteful. The tuk-tuk service up and down the hill is super, make sure you ask where the phone at the bottom road is so you don't miss out on this service. All the staff were happy and helpful, and although they don't all speak super English, there was usually someone who they could call on to work out what you needed.
The location is also good, great not to be in the crowded and noisy Patong area, but enough shops and restaurant up the road in Kata to keep you happy.
I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel and overall it was super value.
Got it all this location
My wife and myself stayed 8 nights at this Hotel/Resort, enjoyed ourselves, clean rooms with good appointments, helpful staff view of the pool from our balcony we were on the 1st floor. Fantastic breakfast to select from. There are no lifts and there are a lot of stairs I had no problem. The Hotel has a sister hotel in Patong and you can use the company buss that goes between them for free, it goes several times a day. the Hotel is on top of a hill about 200m from the main street along the beach, there is the hotels tuk tuk that will take you up and down no problem.
This locaton is a lot quieter than Patong without the crowd. Every thing else is there food, beach, shops, family friendly staff (there were children staying). Brian
Wonderful New hotel in beautiful Karon!
Horizon Karon Beach Resort is a brand new wonderful hotel (so new it doesn't yet appear on the tourist maps of Karon)! The hotel was excellent and the staff were so genuinely warm n friendly I was really sad to say goodbye! Location is good - 2min walk down the hill to the beach, shops and restaurants.
They offer a free shuttle bus to their sister resort in Patong. Patong was better for shopping, markets were great however the amount of hassling from tailors/shop keepers/massage girls etc was annoying after a few hours.
We were so happy to catch a cheap tuk tuk or free hotel bus out of there and arrive in Karon only 10mins later.
Karon feels like a different world from Patong and you'll be thankful to stay in the very beautiful and chilled out Karon beach. The tents on the beach are fabulous for thai massage with oil for $10 Aussie - so good you'll fall asleep in minutes!
The restaurants are great - loved the Karon Beach Resort restaurant overlooking the beach and sunset, On the Rock and Mom Tris at Kata Noi (phone to make a booking to reserve the seats on the water for the last two restaurants).
The rooms were wonderful, serviced daily and they left beautiful roses in my room as a thoughtful birthday pressie. The pool, swim up bar n cocktails were fantastic!
I'd definitely recommend staying here and also, speedboat day trip to Phi Phi and the enviro friendly canoe day trip of James Bond Island and the caves to family and friends and will definitely be back to visit again!!!
Unfortunately we were struck with food poisening before coming to this hotel and it was SUCH A SHAME! This hotel is fabulous! The rooms were great, the staff were great, the pools were AMAZING, the lounge, cafe and restaurants were great. During our stay the Staff were fantastic in helping us with our dibilitating bout of food poisening. They personally drove us to the hospital at 5am! Nothing was an inconvenience. Once we were back from the hospital the reception checked on us every day, both personally and via telephone. Every day a great singer was arranged by the pool and it was certainly a communal and fantastic place to share a drink and laugh. The pool bar was also fantastic and i had the best mojito i have ever consumed! The location is on a hill above karon beach which although not the best is far better that Patong. On the last day we discovered Kata beach which is just around the corner (20 min walk) or short tuk tuk. Kata beach was amazing! This hotels only downfall was the amount of stairs and many older couples were complaining about the walking. The hotel does provide a free shuttle to the bottom of the hill whenever you like and also comes to get you from the bottom (the hill takes only 2 min to walk down thought at night is quite dark so safer to take shuttle). I could not reccommend a hotel more - the staff were so friendly, even the security guards at the front would ALWAYS say g'day and salute you as you walked in (one in fact was on the phone as i came in and i heard a man shouting my attention. He had chased me down the path just to make sure hed said hello!!!) Beautiful and even though its location may be off putting to some it was a beautiful, friendly hotel!
First class resort with facilities to match
We spent many hours googling and surfing but just kept coming back to ht Horizon Karon Beach site. The resort offered good value and sounded to be in a good location at the southern end of Karon. There were nine of us going on holiday only one had ever been to Thailand before, that was me so I was hoping our choice of resort was good. We could not have been happier, what a gem of a place, a little away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to enjoy everything that Phuket has to offer. And the bonus of the location is that the resort is at the top of a little hill and to help its guests out it has a taxi to take you down to the beach and it will also pick you up at the bottom of the hill, which is generally really appreciated because you always seem to have bags of shopping. The resort also has its own bus that will take you into Patong every hour until after midnight and then bring you home again. We barely spent a cent on taxis or buses for the whole of our holiday.
The swimming pool area is just great and the pools lovely and clean. Pool bar was handy for a cool one as well.
Rooms were very clean and kept that way by very friendly staff.
Most of our party were there for tow weeks and I stayed an extra week.
Everyone of us are planning a return to Phuket and will happily stay at the Horizon Karon Beach next time.
My wife and i stayed there for 10 nights in May and had a ball. The resort is brand new. We were upgraded to a honeymoon suite which was on the 3rd floor overlooking parts of the ocean and the amazing pool. Breakfast was included each day and i must admit got a bit boring towards the end.
The pool is amazing...plenty of room and really nice. As it's a new resort they were moving people from their sister resort in patong to here and they all recieved free breakfast and dinner each night...good deal and a better hotel! There's a free coutesy bus hourly between this hotel and the one in Patong which was superb.
we also arrange through concierge to hire a moped for a few days to explaore the beaches further south...i would reccommend for $7 per day. However do not give the hirers your passport, they insist only give them a photo copy...this is why we went through concierge.
The staff were friendly, Karon is so much better than patong with cheap restaurants down the street. We would highly reccommend this hotel and will definately stay there again next year.

We had a sleep in today. Sleep in being 6 o'clock because the old girls have to wake up to take a squirt. They have a little good morning party in the bathroom together every morning.
