... Lake Tahoe about 150 miles away. The first stop was at tunnel view to enjoy the view of El Capitan which had changed dramatically being shrouded in mist. We had our picture taken, the result looks as if it would make a good email postcard. We then drove to Lake Tenaya which was named after a Yosemite chief who had resisted the clearing of the Yosemite tribe from the valley of the same name. There was a bitterly cold wind blowing across the lake here and we didn't stay too long, ...

I told him Anne was used to that type of trip but that our first day next week was going to be 300 miles in the CA hills on US 101 to Eureka CA. The rest were significantly less. No tents for us. ... and collected us. Kyle or "Snow" really buckled down the last few miles though I could tell that it really hurt. It was a beautiful sunny day after 2 days of rain so out spirits were still high. I'm not sure if hiking is in Kyle's future, heck I'm not sure I'm that into it! But it was an experience of a lifetime, to do a section of the PCT with my youngest son ...

Pete is prepared for the mosquitoes we could encounter in AK. The stories really should cause reason for alarm. And if there is a mosquito in the area it WILL find him! His supply of repellents includes the obvious OFF products with, Ultrathon which we took to Africa and didn't need, Autan we used in MX quite effective, and something he found on the internet with rave reviews although it does say kids on it! They all have significant percentages of Deet. All I know is: I hope these ...
