Honeymoon in Phuket 2007

A travel blog entry by holidaybug

We stayed at Patong Beach, the hotest spot in Phuket. Water activities abound, as do restaurants offering excellent dishes of every known cuisine. Accomodation ranges from simple guest houses to luxurious hotels. The nightlife is Internationally renowned and you'll find pubs, go-go bars, discos, floor shows and much.

... What really blew us away, however, were the non-human performers. These included a troupe of 20 elephants, as well as oxen, goats, chickens (trained chickens, no less!) , and a flock of doves. Truly awesome!

So, the bottom line is that we're happy, healthy, and having a wonderful time here. But, now we are looking at our next destination, Singapore. We've just booked our flight, and now are trolling the hotel sites, looking for something in our budget range. ...

... was mostly dragging on our knees ...haha

Onto Chalong Mat Temple, magnificent place with beautifully adorned temples unlike anything I have seen.

Patong Beach was a hive of activity and fellow tourists, we sat down at a restaurant on the beach ( literally sitting in the sand on plastic chairs)...Divine seafood here,, tiger prawns and squid with flavours and freshness that would be hard to get in Aus...combined this with local beer and frozen Mai ...

Patong, Phuket and a journey not to be repeated!

... he was Sebastian Vettell and the bus was so full of passengers that all luggage had to go on the roof! The amount of corners we took on two wheels we were amazed that ours were still there when we arrived! Anyway, we are now in Patong in Phuket, slightly further north and back on a island, though it doesn't feel like it but the island is huge, apparently the same size as Singapore. So we opted to stay in Patong and to be honest it was ...

Same same... But different!

... improving the situation, but the room was on the neglected and tired side and could have used a good cleaning. our bottom line was that we wouldn't eat in their restaurant, not knowing the state of the kitchen. The safe was broken as well, so we lugged our passports, etc to the front desk and went off in search of the beach.
The funny thing is, the entire restaurant was full, both nights... And the food looked really ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Horizon Patong Beach Resort & Spa

    Will return again.

This was our second time at the Horizon & like the first we had a Ball. Food first class, staff the best, we will return in a year or two for sure. Thank you all ance again. Reg & Valerie Mills Western Auatralia.

    Fantastic value

I loved the horizon! the place looks fantastic, the food at the baluchi is exceptional and the staff are the friendliest and most helpful i've encountered. having forked out a fortune for a crummy little place in miami earlier this year i was a bit dubious because of the rates here. needless to say i pleasantly surprised by the horizon. I would happily go back and recommend it to anyone.

    Great, but construction next door

There is contruction for a hotel ongoing right next door, so exercise caution in booking this hotel. Although the ammenities are excellent, and the staff generally helpful, took me 2 days to finally switch my room during my stay, but even after moving more to the back of the hotel can still hear the constuction inside my room, and it wouldn't be such a big deal but they continue on late into the night, sometimes 9 or 10pm. Even relaxing by the pool you can hear it, so going to the beach is the only way to avoid it.

    Terriffic place to stay

We and our two best friends had 8 great nights a week ago in this almost hidden hotel yet virtually opposite the beach in the center of patong beach. It is very quiet and cosy with big rooms, both ours on the 1st floor overlooking one of two pools. It has obviously had major work in the past few months since the disaster. So everything is new and clean. All the staff were very friendly and obliging and helped us whenever we needed something. Breakfast was included for us and was very good. The standard of food in the main (of 2) restaurants was not to our liking and we found much better quality at a lower price within a couple of minutes walk outside of the hotel, and this was the only thing to let it down a bit , for us anyway. We travelled on an upgraded package and would definately go back there again.

Stayed at the Horizon for 7 days in November 2004. Beautiful hotel and very friendly staff. Rooms very immaculate, cleaned daily. Peaceful yet entertaining and like your own little peace of paradise. Would reccommend anyone to stay there if your in for a cheap yet great holiday.

    Excellent holiday

My partner and i had a fantastic holiday at Horizon Beach Hotel, Patong Beach in october. The people are so friendly, standards are exceptional in the hotel the whole area was so magical and romantic. We are so saddened by what happened on december 26th although we realise there was a lot of damage and like alot of other tourists who have been to thailand know that phuket and other areas will be up and running again. Whilst we were staying at Horizon Beach we used the massage parlour quite a few times we do hope the ladies there are safe. We also made friends with Atit who works in reception we hope he is safe along with the rest of the staff. May we wish you good luck on your reopening. We shall be back to Phuket in November 2005.

    Happy Holiday

My wife & I stayed in your Hotel for 14 days in Sept.2002 & had a wonderful time. We hope! to be able to return in Sept/Oct. this year if all goes well with the re-building of Phuket etc. we will keep in contact with our travel agent who should be up to date with everything.

Wishing you all the very best of heath & luck, & hoping to be with you all soon.

Regards & best wishers Mr. Mrs Reg & Valerie Mills

    Enjoyed the Horizon Beach Hotel

My Husband myself and 3 friends stayed at the Horizon Beach Hotel in November. The staff were very friendly plus we had a beautiful buffet breakfast every day. The rooms were excellent . We were central to everything + beach 2 min walk. Overall very impressive.

    For the price very good

Staying at the Horizon Beach for the second time we found it to be just as good as our first stay in 2002.

Staff are very friendly and keen to assist.

Pools are good and the hotel is in a great location.

    Loved it

This is the second time i have been to this hotel and i think it is great. The rooms are large and serviced daily. 2 bottles of water were left each day and 2 beach towels. The buffet breakfast was also good value as it was included in the price. 2 good sized pools are on premises and the beach is just across the street so you can select one or the other very easily. Not a noisy hotel and patrons were very friendly, a gym and creche are also available I found everything to my liking and would defenitly go back again
